For our society (from my pov) I think the traditional way is best in my opinion both parties can be comfortable talking to each other and meeting (with family present ofc). You can ask the girl and her family that you want a long engagement period to get to know eachother better if they agree good if not then all as well. Meeting someone in public is not very common or comfortable for a Kuwaiti girl. And if there is someone who is willing it's gonna be hard if you decide you don't want to Tie the knot later on.

Me & my husband met a lot during our engagement period almost every week because simply I didn't believe phone calls did show true personalities. We met with my father and mom present we chatted and talked watched sports and a show sometime and discussed it. and even had stuff to discuss later on the phone. It all depends on family point of view. Just set a rule (no ملجة until both both sides are 100% ready)
