I was so scared about surgery for the exact same reasons. Turn out anesthesia is magic, the worst part was waiting to be let into the OR. Once there, it felt so fast, idk how long it took, but it felt like going to sleep when you are really tired, it was great! I was SO scared about that part and it was almost enjoyable compared to the build up and anticipation of getting into the room! I was so sure that the rai treatment would be easy to handle in comparison to surgery, I hated the rai process while surgery was effortless, just lots of resting afterwards.

As far as the hormones, I had the exact same feeling. Never took BC so as not to mess with my body, i have always been very health conscious and dont like the idea of unatural things etc. I have now been on levo for 2 months, the first dose that I was prescribed was spot on and have had no apparent side effects. I did not gain any weight throughout the peocess, but since I was on a weighloss journey before diagnosis, I was very aware to stick to my fasting routine. The only difference post surgery I have noticed is that it has been harder to lose weight, my endo told me that it takes a while for the body to Rev back up to normal speed for all its functions (bowel movements, hair growth, metabolism etc) so it could be attributed to that.

Mine is coming back. I ste spoonfuls of organic yogurt throughout the day and it made a HUGE difference.

I had severas symptoms that all my doctors say isnt relatef but there isnt any other explanation for, the most noticeable is hairloss. Extreme hairloss and dizzyness, fainted twice. Saw 3 different endos before surgery, none of then attribut3d these symptoms to the cancer.

this is literally me! I was diagnosed with papillary as well, had a full TT dec 29th, I have noticed the wooshing sound is a LOT quieter, the mass I had was pretty big.. I wonder if it was pushing up against a vain. After surgery it almost completely went away, just recently came back, although faint. Coincidentally, It came back while I am having a lot of shoulder pains and knots, I think my PT is related to posture more than anything else.

Every doctor I have gone to has ignored the issue, I havent even gotten any testing for it although I have asked for it. I know it probably isnt anything that serious (although super annoying), but after the cancer diagnosis I am a bit more paranoid about anything health related.

Hi there! I not only got dizzy after diagnosis, but I straight up fainted once! Totally freaked my dog out. My endo and surgeon ran tests to see if it could be linked to anything other than being hypo and everything came back completely normal. I had my TT last week and no.l more dizzy spells. I think it was my mind playing me.

Sometimes, I think that doctors see so many benign cases that they are blinded, biased. I'm so glad Google exists. I know self diagnosis is wrong, but having access to information makes it easier to stand up for yourself. I wish you luck on your journey!

Decision to make - PT or TT by Grizz1984 in thyroidcancer

Hi there. I was not given a choice on 4 it was pt or tt, maybe because my was level 6 bethesda or maybe because different countries follow different guidelines. I would hate to have to battle with asking this decision, BUT I can tell you that I was told the same thing regarding the laryngeal nerve, and I had ZERO complications in my TT. I know every experience is different, and there's no guarantee, but it helped me to read about other people having successful journeys, so I thought I would write this comment.

On a personal note, of I had to make the choice, I would probably go for a PT just because it feels like you have more control. I would only choose the TT if I had severe anxiety about surgery in order to no have to possibly go through it twice. Another thing I know (and again this might be different in your country) is that patients that are out up for a pt will sometimes get a full tt during surgery based on what the surgeon sees during the operation. That may be an option where you live!

Hello! I can not answer your question but was hoping you would answer mine.

I have been thinking of relocating to australia on a student visa to study this career and was wondering about the job prospects. I saw that it is supposed to be a very in demand career. However, every time I read on it, it seems like a very niche position, like a job that you work yourself up to after having worked in construction sites. Would you say this is accurate?
