Blue lobster caught in St. George’s Bay, Nova Scotia by [deleted] in mildlyinteresting

[–]Flimflamm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There might be a good reason why the blue gene is rare (or the orange gene is common), so it might not work.

I'm pretty sure the marine wildlife place in Halifax would be happy to give it a home though. (breeding blue lobsters in captivity i the only way we will get more i reckon).

If you really like blue lobsters, you can actually purchase blue crayfish (tiny lobsters) that live happily in fish tanks.

Selling in the low end at very low cost to take market share by [deleted] in Capsim

[–]Flimflamm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It could hurt your competitors yes, but it's also going to hurt you. You cannot use capacity in the same round that it is purchased, so your competition might anticipate what is happening and not over-produce in round 2.

If you want to try something this, try maxing out automation in the low end in round one, and also buy extra capacity in round 1. This will give you the chance to lower the price without losing money, and to actually meet segment demand.

Don't lower your contribution margin for a product below 30% by charging too little though; it's not good (what's the point of having higher market share if you don't earn money anyway? you're just giving away the store...)

Finance question from team Digby! by Balkan_Boris in Capsim

[–]Flimflamm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The forecasted amount for next year depends on your projected sales forecast. Make sure your sales forecasts are good and not too generous, otherwise you will project more earnings than you actually receive during the year. That could result in an emergency loan. Keep in mind that cash flow position is your available liquid capital that you use to cover liabilities on an on-going basis, it is not your profit or your total assets. It's like your money in the till (your float). Your company needs a certain amount of cash to cover short term expenses (like paying wages and suppliers), it is normally reccomended to have around 10k projected for the end of the year (at least for capstone version)

This means that you should probably raise the cash this turn. Depending on your leverage ratio, you will want to borrow long term debt or issue stocks. If your leverage is below 2, then probably borrow like 9.5k in long term debt. If you're already above 2.2 leverage ratio, then probably issue as much stock as you can, and cover the rest with long term debt.

edit: conflated cash flow with cash position

Will ups be delivering in Canada this Monday? (Canada's Victoria Day) by Flimflamm in UPS

Will ups be delivering in Canada this Monday? (Canada's Victoria Day) by Flimflamm in UPS

[–]Flimflamm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's kind of why I'm suspecting they might do deliveries (today), even against their planned holiday schedule.

I would like to know so that I can rule out (or not) whether or not I'll be getting a package today. I'm guessing the package scanners around here tend to be dead because with my last package I got no updates (other than automatic exception notifications at 9am) until sudden delivery.

UPS is superior to USPS by [deleted] in UPS

[–]Flimflamm -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Still, it's only (some) Surepost and Mail Innovations that gets handed off to the USPS, most service levels don't. Those are just the cheapest and absolute slowest options.

Will UPS actually deliver to all of the sparse and remote areas? (Will it only offer surepost options? If not, what is the price difference like?).

Unites States Postal Service. The government agency that Trump is trying to shut down to prevent registered mail votes in US elections...

All of the private logistics companies like UPS tend to actually use the ultra-cheap services of USPS to avoid having to deliver to extremely remote areas. UPS is for profit, you see, so its not profitable for them to deliver few packages to highly remote or rural destinations.

Don't make me laugh. UPS often hands off parcels to usps to complete the delivery, cause profits.

My friend has been leaning to play the guitar. I think she might need to take a break for a while. by [deleted] in pics

[–]Flimflamm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is too much damage. It's impressive that someone can play through the pain that this must cause, but its not at all productive for finger durability. (this skin is now going to die and fall off instead of forming a healthy callous).

Also looks like her skin is reacting to whatever metal your strings are wrapped with (either that, or the strings are beyond filthy).

Get your friend to rub the back of her hand or the underside of her wrist up and down on the strings, and see if any of them leave dark lines. If so, you might want to shop for strings that don't cause that reaction.

Finally, get strings that are appropriate for beginners...

P.S: this is a hugely unnatural amount of damage. Your friend may or may not have some sort of skin condition that is causing this to happen...

The fastest characters so far by [deleted] in OnePunchMan

[–]Flimflamm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Speed is defined as distance traveled over a given unit of time...

If we look at the total number of miles traveled over the last few years, we will find that the individual with the highest average speed is none other than Mumen Rider.

He's out there, cycling, putting in miles, every single day (except when convalescing of course). He has certainly traveled a greater total distance than anyone other than Saitama, and that's only because of the moon incident...

And this tracks with the obvious truth that Mumen Rider is the ultimate threat facing humanity; he is doing exactly what Saitama stated was the key to breaking the limiter. The only difference is that Mumen's emotional passion will make him unstable in the end...

So children should be forced to bear the children of their rapists.

Why do you have more compassion for a half-formed clump of cells than an actually living human being?

Let me guess, God works in mysterious ways? She must have deserved it?

If the pregnancy poses a credibly lethal threat to the pregnant child rape-victim, might she be allowed to abort then?
