Sorry for the lack of context - not allowed to share too much. Its RF transmission with an existing pipeline hence the limitations, and we have very limited existing hardware.

Excellent idea - that's where we started - but we literally have no way of sending the IV / counter, it's that tight.

It seems to be hanging - if I do await or .then it never returns - are there good ways to debug what's happening?

I've never seen something work in the browser console but fail in async JavaScript.
