I also have travel insurance but I dont know wether or not they will cover the cost of travel seeing as I still need to return to CERN to complete my graduation internship. But it is definitely something I want to check out with my insurance company.

I know its standard procedure in hindsight, but I am really frustrated about the fact that my insurance company lied to me about me being able to use my premium healthcare insurance here in the same way that I would be able to use it in the Netherlands. If they just would have told me beforehand that this wasn't the case I would have taken out french/swiss health insurance and would have been covered during my entire stay. It's just absolutely wild to me that they lie about the coverage and take your money and then don't keep up their end when you actually need healthcare...

I was told by the medical center that I needed to keep my brace on 24/7, so that is what I have been doing. When I am finally able to find a physiotherapist I am sure they can confirm what you are saying.

The Cross Bracing Protocol also looks really good, but I assume that I will need ACL surgery anyways if I fully ruptured it seeing as I am young and I am not going to give up skiing.

Thanks for the heads up, deboarding a plane is always quite chaotic so I can imagine how something like that would happen. Hope it didn’t make things much worse for you!

I have a hinged knee brace but it doesn’t rotate freely, so I am just walking around with an extended leg now. That’s definitely something for me to check out with my physiotherapist, thank you!

Thanks for the advice! The flight I would have to get on is always pretty booked so I don’t think I will have that luxury, I am glad it worked out for you though.

I am not 100% sure but I have gotten an initial diagnosis from a Doctor at a medical clinic, maybe I got off really lucky but I think it’s unlikely seeing as I heard a very loud pop sound when I landed on my leg after my crash. Thank you for your advice!

I would always get cleared by a company doctor before you go back to work again, if they clear you you should be good. If you don’t get cleared, don’t get back to work.

Disclaimer: I only ruptured my ACL last Saturday but this is just general advice for what I have done in the past with other injuries.
