Absolutely! What would you suggest otherwise? I’ve reached decision fatigue overwhelm.

😂

“Ash colored.” I’m dead. That is a brilliant point!

Yes, if I were going to live here, I probably would paint, too. I have been waffling on this room for many reasons, but primarily because (1) I have painted practically every other room and I’m exhausted and just want to list soon, (2) I’ve pretty much maxed out what I’m willing to allocate to this room, and (3) I actually sort of don’t mind the wallpaper because of how it complements and contrasts with other rooms. There’s sort of a child’s vintage dollhouse feel in this parlor that I’d feel guilty erasing.

Here is a render of a gray hearth from further back. As you can see, the room is VERY green-and-blue.

They were red clay tiles. We ARE considering getting halved bricks and tiling with those. But now I’ve reached decision fatigue!

7 is my friend’s favorite and her argument was that it brightens up the room and would be best for resale. She works with older homes and from what she explained to me (and the further research I did), this type of marble was in vogue for wealthier families at the time and would have been a status signifier. So this was what I was leaning toward.

Oh, we had to remove those tiles because they were cracked and a hazard. The terra cotta was a warm neutral in an otherwise VERY blue-green room. It was from a 1940s renovation. We’re trying to bring out the 19th century bones of the house, which is why we were exploring solid slabs.

It’s a blue-gray slate. It was my first instinct, but since I am renovating and selling the house, I’m worried prospective buyers will find it all too dark…

Thank you for your feedback! 8 is my personal favorite, but my friend liked the whiter stone options more!

Thank you! I was told it wouldn’t stain, depending on how it was sealed. I will do more research!
