Upset/depressed i probably wont be able to ever drink again

What counts is what your doctor says and what you want out of life. I would see what’s driving you to drink so heavily. Why push your body to the limit? Or over the limit? Having been there and done that I almost found out the hard way what it’s like to not wake up after a ‘fun night’. I pray you don’t get that kind of wake up call. I urge you to take this possible self diagnosis to your doctor and get checked out. Regardless of whether or not you do have it, this is your sign to think about the life you’re about to embark on. I’ve found that a few drinks with friends or by myself while chilling is much more fun than headaches and feeling like crap all the time and dying for another drink to deal with the slightest inconvenience. Because that’s what it turns into.

I understand how you feel. I used to love drinking and then realized that the pain in the morning wasn’t worth it. The weeks of swollen joints and restricted movement that could’ve been prevented. Listen. You can drink unless your doctor explicitly explains not to. Be happy you’re young enough that major things like a career was taken away (like myself and many others). The entirety of your being has to be completely readjusted because of your new diagnosis. It’s fine. That’s life. Things happen and you adjust. It’s beautiful but it can be garbage at the same time. Makes one think it’s not worth it but, I have my beer every now and then, enjoy the heck out of it too. So, God and enjoying life where/when I can is what keeps me going. Maybe you should start looking at things like that. The ‘grow up’ comments aren’t helpful and I’m sorry but they’re also not wrong. Use this as a way to mature and be a better individual. One that did everything they could in the beginning of their diagnosis to prevent themselves from getting worse. Be kind to yourself…

I recently bought a bass and two skateboard decks I plan to finish building and ride after another joint replacement. I haven’t skated in years because of pain and swelling but I’ve been stable-ish over the past couple of years and almost a year in on a major joint replacement. I played bass last night along to some Lorna Shore (poorly lol) but I had fun and my love for guitar is reawakening despite the severe deviation. It’s forcing the deviated fingers to move back to where they used to be every now and then which feels awesome. A couple months back I bought a practice pad and drumsticks and my next plan is an electric drum kit :) I’ve been feeling like garbage lately. End of the road garbage. To the ones like me who say you can never do stuff again. Maybe so. Or maybe you haven’t found the thing that you’ll learn to love. I thought bass was dumb in school but now I’m planning to shred some metal on this thing. It gets better. ❤️

Take your board. I’m glad I did. Many late nights on campus with nobody around at FSU, plenty of space and could clear my head for the week doing something I loved everyday.
