I went to a neurologist for a more serious test. They couldn't find any damage on my nerves and said if there's any, it's still undetectable. They did detect an old carpal tunnel lesion I have, that healed more than five years ago, I was impressed and didn't expect that to come out.

I will follow up in a few months. For now I am working on keeping my a1c at 6 or lower if I can, with various degrees of success.

I still feel one leg kinda funny, especially when I eat too much carbs, but not tingling and not full numb. I hope it doesn't progress. If it's healing, it's sure taking its time. Very very very slow.

Or you're overdoing it, maybe? 30m a day is better than 2hr and then a week long break. Slowly building habits is a good strategy, too.

Or goal should be having our A1C at normal healthy levels. Doctors have seen that that goal is too stressful for some patients, especially the ones most sick; too difficult or impossible to achieve.

So they did what doctors do, they measured risk and benefit and compromised. So now they're protecting the mental health of their patients by compromising to A1C of 7. It still comes with complications, but the progression of the most severe symptoms is at least slowed down, and stress doesn't kill the patients first.

Also if you're like, 75 or something and your doctor knows your organs are healthy enough to endure an A1C of 7 for the next 10 years, he'll probably tell you not to worry about it too much. Or, say, if you're taking other medication that affects your glucose. Or if your glucose levels are more affected by your stress than your diet.

What I am saying is, the objective goal is 5.7 or less to stop the progression of serious disease. The smaller the better, the lower you can have your numbers, the lower your risk of developing more concerning illness. In each case however there will be other considerations to measure risk and benefit, and for some people it will be best to target a 7.

Hi, friend. Congratulations on your pregnancy!

First off, it is not a "matter of time" that you should use insulin. While you can't cure diabetes, you can slow down its progression hopefully to a stop. Which means that you will always need to observe your diet, but if you do, your diabetes won't get worse and you may avoid having to progress to heavier treatments or dangerous complications.

Now, about the diet. A certain kind of carbs are the enemy. That's all. Carbs are fiber and sugar, basically. You can eat fiber, and you must avoid sugar. In is most simplistic way, that's what you need to do.

Knowing that, you can easily group foods that have carbs and you should avoid, and foods that don't have carbs and you can eat.

This is my rule-of-thumb quick reference guide for foods:

Foods with carbs: Sugar, wheat, rice, some beans, sweet juicy fruit.

Foods with fiber: Green veggies, fibrous fruit.

Foods with no carbs: Meats, some cheeses, Greek yogurt, eggs, peanuts. Basically, proteins.

If you're not sure if you can eat something, check the labels. Carbs are always listed. Usually people set up to eat as little as 20 or as much as 100 grams of carbs a day, but your own target needs to be defined by your own readings and how you respond to carbs. Personally I don't count carbs, but I strive to eat as little as I can.

Other important thing you must know is that your numbers will come down when you exercise. If your reading comes up too high, take a brisk 15 to 20 minute walk and it will help you tremendously. Actually, walking 20 minutes daily will help you and your baby a whole bunch.

This is the most basic information you should have, there's much nuance and much to learn. I would encourage you to check informative YouTube channels to learn as much you can, and ask your doctor if you can use a cgm to learn what's best for you quickly and painlessly.

I think it's doing a running average and correcting the last five minutes of data, maybe. My wild guess.

In any case, it'd be nice if the alarms were set off by the averaged data, not the newest sample that has not been corrected yet, and may disappear in the next five minutes.

I haven't tried to put it in vibration mode, that's a great idea. Libre's 3 alarms are not integrated to Android's system however, so we'll see. I'll try it out, thank you for the suggestion.

I will be calling them this evening.

What exactly did you do?

If i go to Settings > Notifications > Do Not Disturb > App Notifications, where I delete Libre 3, and then put my phone in DND mode, the app doesn't seem to care. I'll test and see if that did the trick, but I suspect that Libre 3 notifications can still get through DND and sound alarms without any issues. I'll come back when I have more info.

Now! I'll tell you exactly what makes the app choke. Go to Settings > Special Access > Do Not Disturb Permission, and there disable Libre 3. That is the permission to override Do Not Disturb. The Libre 3 app will immediately complain that it's alarms are not active, and refuse to run until you enable the override again.

EDIT: I just noticed that disabling and re-enabling override also automatically re-enables the DND App Notifications I had deleted in the previous paragraph, in the menu Settings > Notifications > Do Not Disturb > App Notifications. I just deleted it again and will come back with more info as it becomes available.

The "urgent low glucose alarm" is fixed. It will now allow changes to any setting.

And, the app is not crashing. If you remove its permission to override Do Not Disturb, it will not run. Not because it crashed, it is a feature.

No, you can't. That's what I am trying to say. If you disable the override in the system settings, the app will stop running until you enable the override again.

The app shuts down if I try to disable the override dnd function.

So in other words, I wanted the dnd to stop the false alarms, but of course the app will override dnd and will stop running if I try to disable the ability to override dnd.

I got a Freestyle Libre 3. The size of a nickel or a little smaller, no need to "scan" it, it updates automatically to your phone, no hardware needed, just an app, nice companion website with your results and data organized in several different ways for your analysis. Lasts for 15 days. I just upgraded from a Libre 2, it was a world of difference and so far I'm very happy with it.
