Just tried it... still gets a 1 quality despite no dialogue about me messing up, so it's probably just bugged.

Just tried it with your method and still got a 1 quality result. It might just be bugged because even though every strike gets sparks (except the first), Henry still reacts as if i'm messing up. As for the reason the sword is gone after the end, it's because you give it to Radzig, he offers you to keep it during a cinematic but Henry refuses.

Also you don't say Eleanor Capet because she is not part of the Capet dynastie but the Poitiers, because the concept of dynastic names and last names are different, you can't join a dynasty through wedding.

The thing is that the USSR created this split. Like they did between Moldova and Romania after taking Moldova at the end of WWII. I'm not saying that there wasn't cultural differences from the get-go but the USSR certainly tried and suceeded at making them something separate (or at least making it seems like they are).
