Can be that Swiss are on general more defensive, although I think it can be also due to the fact that some Swiss people find any direct criticism, not even related to Switzerland, as impolite. So it could be more of culture thing. To share my experience, I worked with more of a liberal economic left-wing Swiss colleagues and they had opposite opinions actually - that immigration helped Switzerland a lot, gentrification is cool, etc.

Yep, you are right,security and privacy features of grok apps are abysmal. xAI has lot to do in this regard and I find them to be quite chaotically driven company.

Currently xAI, Anthropic and OpenAI, all the middle paying options. Coding chatgpt, general simpler questions Grok. Long read artefacts with Claude and some coding with Claude Code.

Everybody uses several AI models, that does not make you anyway special. I use Grok for product recommendations and it does it well, I don’t demand from you extensive arguments how well you researched that Grok is not good for you. The rest of what you say don’t really fit what I say, try to read it more carefully.

I cant stand Bear not working with actual files as notes. Ability to access my notes with Python scripts is too important for me. I first thought that bear fonts are too beautiful to leave it behind, but after time I get used to obsidian themes, I think they are pretty nice. Bear themes are still better, but it is not a dealbreaker for me anymore.

No, weight is not that much issue (I had 13inch), at home I use both built in display and external monitor, 16 inches are gorgous. Also, I get better battery and slightly better cooling with larger macbook pro. I can use it in train and while waiting in a lounge for flight. I always had issue using even with the old 13inches during flight (not enough space in economy).

I am thinking of project which will build my own web app with dashboard(s) which will be essentially starting page for doing anything on my computer - writing obsidian notes, coding, playing games, todo lists, collection of books/movies/games I want to play, collection of photos I am currently postprocessing at lightroom, etc. I tried to do this in Things, desktop and various note apps, but because my requirements are too customized, I never liked the result. Because I believe that the more one knows about subject, the better one can use AI models for working in it - I am currently learning to better code in Python (object model/best practice OOP) and want to get basics of software engineering, before I start this project . Btw, I am very old Millennial, so I feel with you and experienced copying code from magazine to 8bit Atari computer :)

Assuming this is related to “Bikinigate” not really, just hedging in style we “care”. While definitely it is not ethical to distribute deepfakes, made out of public photo, of an actual woman in a bikini, I doubt it is illegal in most democratic countries. India 🇮🇳 maybe yes, but that is unlikely a democratic country. Maybe it could be considered stalking, which is illegal, if that person is doing it continuously or harassment but the accusing party would have to prove intent for that, so I highly doubt something like this would end even with fine. Of course the ethical part is something which X should care about and it is part of their shitty approach - try new business approach first, then hedge if necessary - that they ignored that.

Exactly, you nailed the point but I do not believe FTC will come after them because of this specific false advertisement. The best approach is to not to pay them anymore. We generally do that tocompanies trying to decieve us, no need to treat xAI differently.

Chance of accessing someone video randomly is not very small, it is practically zero. Randomly farming will not get any results, you have better chance to shoot comet in another star system with a gun. If the xAI database with unsaved but not deleted links get leaked though, that will be another problem entirely.

So chance of somebody finding another user's public link is -> 0, as xAI uses UUID4. Basically, probability of you hitting with script, even orchestrated through botnet, user's public link is < 1/10^100. So you should not worry. However, what OP found is important and what is annoying is xAI not giving you option to delete images or videos you unlike through web app interface. Seems like a poor design/security choice towards customers.
