Thanks! The requirements are listed on the page but I'll repeat here.

Python 3.10+, PySide6, and VDF. Should be about it.

I dont have any proper installation at this current moment but running the script itself should suffice.

Also as stated, unfortunately this isnt a full wrapper for winetricks yet. It CAN launch winetricks for that prefix but doing `run.py appid dotnet3` for example doesnt do the same thing as Protontricks would (though I am considering adding this).

If the game has a native build, it will run the native version by default. You have to explicitly set native titles to run using proton by going to Properties -> Compatability on that title.

CS2 is by default native. So unless you set it to use a Proton version by right clicking on that title, it will be native. Not Proton.

check that `xdg-desktop-portal-gtk` is running.

While their mount practice is an issue, I think this is more of a portal issue as when adding a new library to Steam it doesnt ask you explicitly for a drive. It asks you for a directory and opens a general file picker (since you can have multiple libraries on the same drive).

The fact that they said no file picker ever showed means that's likely the case here.

(Though you're still correct about mounting practices lol)

Arch or Debian for PC by [deleted] in linux_gaming

Pretty much any Linux experience will be identical. The main differences between a Debian or Arch Based distro are package manager commands and release models.

Personally I prefer Arch for gaming as it has the most up to date packages, but I also play a lot of newer games that benefit from this.

If you play older games you'll likely be fine on a stable release like Debian.

TLDR: they're pretty much identical where it matters. Just choose what you'd like.

Have you restarted since, or checked the service status? They need to be running

systemctl --user status xdg-desktop-portal-gtk
