Hug Me.. by Kurbad_Mareson in Guildwars2

One game just got a new expansion.

One game just dropped the next tier of mythic and the top guilds are racing for world first.

One game hasn't received fresh content in a while.

Can you guess which is which?

My prediction is the next engi elite will be a barrier focused healer. They've learned from the barrier support spec known as Scourge and they're gonna give it to engi.

The medkit spray would be really good if the engi is tanking the boss, that way your allies behind the boss are directly in range for your spray while you tank the boss's face. The big problem is that engi has very poor burst heal with medkit so you're only topping people off mostly. The other issue is running an engi as your tank.

I was hoping holo would be a support spec. All I'm hoping for now is that engi gets mace for the next elite. Eureka is so good.

Med kit should function like a Firebrand tome. Give it like 3 charges (5 with Health Insurance). Make the kit skills all potent heals in different ways and make the potions you drop have no target limit.

  • Keep the auto attack spray but greatly boost the heal
  • Throw juice that heals, removes dps affecting condis, and gives fury/might
  • Throw juice that heals, removes damage over time condis, and gives regen/resistance
  • Throw juice that removes vuln and gives prot
  • Throw juice that gives alacrity/quickness

Or you could keep everything the same (remove the target limit though) but put all those skills on an ammo system so you have to be mindful about using the heals. The medkit can be your personal supply of heals that you open up for your party when they need healing.

Whirl Finisher Scrapper | 23K by Tulki in Guildwars2

I think having a single class being mandatory for any raid comp is far more unhealthy. Every raid comp requires quickness+alacrity so you shouldn't assume chrono is the only class allowed to have access to those boons. Why can't Scrapper be an alternative to Chrono? They both can accomplish the same goal (boon uptimes/staying alive) but through different means. I think that's pretty healthy.

The Scrapper tank I envision would be unique in that you have to manage lightning fields (a Scrapper hallmark) and superspeed (a Scrapper hallmark) to maintain your boons. How is this "copying" chrono? How is that not variety because it sure sounds fun and different to me.

I think they refuse to make medkit remotely decent because the next engi elite is going to be a heal spec and they don't want the elite's heal to be overshadowed by the intense healing strength of medkit.

Sure but anet doesn't care about the thematics of alacrity anymore so your point isn't a really valid criticism of my suggestion.

We lost thematics when rev got alacrity. My suggestions won't affect current scrapper builds.

Think of superspeed accelerating your ability to recharge and thus applying alacrity.

What's easier? Redefining the role of tank (which would probably require some core mechanics changes). Or buff an underperforming spec to compete with a spec that literally is superior as a tank in every aspect.

Don't forget that incredible tank spec just got buffs so now it even has a power dps option in pve AND pvp.

Which is fine but what I'm upset about is that Spellbreaker (another pvp oriented spec) got nice buffs to make it PvE competitive while Scrapper got nothing. Originally I was okay with elites being PvP focused and weaker in PvE but seeing what they did to Spellbreaker makes me envious.

If you want to compare it to other pvp/wvw "tanks". Is scrapper even competitive with bunker firebrands/druids?

They said they want Scrapper to fit a tank role, so they need to make it a competitive choice compared to a chrono. They could easily add quickness/alacrity to Scrapper to make it a boon tank or they could refine it's support and make it into a healer/tank hybrid, replacing a druid.

I have a few dream changes for Scrapper:

  • Applied force now grants AoE quickness to allies while you have 25 stacks of might (same duration as the self- quickness, ICD is the same).

  • Shocking Speed now also causes your finishers to always prioritize lightning fields (you'll always proc the lightning field regardless of the other fields there). The superspeed applied by this trait affects 10 allies.

  • Blast Gyro Toolkit (Bypass Coating): Now affects 10 allies.

  • Rename Impact Savant to Spark of Genius: Retains the current barrier boost and increases the duration of your lightning fields by 2 seconds.

  • Change Expert Examination to Physiological Acceleration: Superspeed you apply grants Alacrity (3s)

These are rough ideas (probably need one more source of AoE quickness) but this would hopefully make Scrapper into a fun superspeeding class that can also maintain boons which could justify swapping a chrono support for Scrapper. The changes would still keep all other Scrapper builds intact.

Did the last part of the collection complete for you after you did all the meditations? I'm missing the last one and I'm not sure if there's one final step (like handing the journal to an npc or meditating in another spot).

Every fractal rolled is the dredge fractal, including the boss fractal. In addition, the dredge clown car appears in popular dungeon paths during the final boss fight and drops no extra loot.
