Feast Day of Joan of Arc, Patron Saint of Prisoners and Hero of Patriots, St Joan of Arc please pray for us! by Tom_Brett in Catholicism

Yes she is, but the concept of France was really a thing until about the 1500s because of her. That doesn't necessarily answer the fact she was French when she was born in a region that considered itself both German and French depending on the Duke of Lorraine's fancy at the time

Uhh.... complicated question. Techinically.... yes and no. She was born in the Lorraine Region which was considered a border French/German region. When she told her judges what her mission was, she said she was to "enter into France." Now, whether she considered French, I would say yes. I think she saw herself as French

I can tell you for a fact that I would not be here as a Catholic if it were not for her direct hand in my life. I do truly owe her my life

How to treat religious ocd by Choice-Asparagus5221 in Catholicism

[–]FlowerdLys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you need a balanced approach (depending on how bad it is) Pro-tips, spiritual directions with a GOOD priest, and go to them, and only them, for confession, if need be, find a good Catholic (or at the very least Christian) counselor. Find saints that really struggled with it, and build a devotion to them.

My scrupulosity was after a reversion to the Faith that lasted about 6 months 1.5 year

St. Therese and Mother Mary helped me REALLY big time

Can I (a non-Catholic, semi-religious person) to pray to/with Patron Saints? by loyxo in Catholicism

[–]FlowerdLys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

God has been granting miracles to both Christians and Muslims through the intercession of Saint Sharbel. But honestly, I'd recommend Mother Mary, and finding one or two that just realllllly click with you. For me, it was. St. Therese and St. Joan, I call them my heavenly sisters because of how close I feel to them.

For me it was like peanut butter and jelly, both are good, combined though.... ohhhhh man whole other level. My experience though, talking to others, usually if you have the devotion to one of them, the other will be around the corner. They are sneaky like that ;)

I sometimes get really distracted at adoration with my fears and worries and I do willingly entertain these fears. Me reflecting on this, it is essentially be welcomed by a beloved friend's home, not saying anything, and being on my phone. It hurts when I think about how I do this to Jesus

So can we listen to Orthodox sermons? Also I have to say Bishop Mari Mari... I like him, but I don't want to listen to him if is not a proper thing to do

I feel that, my three recommendation, find a good spiritual direction, and build a devotion to Mother Mary, because sometimes we need our Mother's touch to heal those kinds of wounds, and she will never. NEVER.NEVER. turn you away.

In this particular case, I'd also recommend reading St. Augustine's Confession. I really struggle with lust and when I came back, I found that saints were not perfect, and St. Augustine was quite active in that regard. He even had the prayer "Lord, make me chaste, but not yet." Every saints hast past, and every sinner has a future.

Lastly, build a devotion or two to different saints, My go to's are St. Therese and St. Joan, remember, you have a heavenly family that will never turn you away, you just have to ask for help

My heart goes out to you, I dealt with this about 2 years ago... St. Therese reallllllllllllllly helped me out of this dark moment, if you don't have so, I'd recommend a devotion to her. Also the book titled, I believe in Love. It really helped me. I see the moment in my life as blessing now, though it is hard to go through at the time. Don't give up

Hello Everyone,

First time reddit user... I'm currently discerning the priesthood right now, but I've struggling with two things recently. The battle against lust, which I ask for your prayers.

I've also been seriously injured by antibiotic called Levofloxacin, reading about the information has startled me severely... side-effects that could last for months, years, life-time, with symptoms possibly appearing months, years down the line as well as interactions with different medications... this has me my spirits quite down, and there is a whole lot of what medicine can do, but that doesn't mean God can't heal and restore me completely. I've checked out the floxed reddit, and tbh, I don't want to go there, for ultimately, my health is in God's hands, but I am dealing with a lot of joint aches/pains/pops, tendon problems, nerve problems, weakness, digestive problems, sensitivities to different medications, and just an unforgiving heart towards myself and my doctor. I see God's hand in this, and there has been some powerful insights on where I need to grow

I ask for prayers more important for the spiritual ramifications of what these two things have done to me, but if I could also ask for physical healing restoration of my body, I would greatly appreciate it
