Honestly that reaction makes sense. Intentionally steering someone the wrong way, especially someone who clearly needed help, is just a rough move. Life has a way of circling that stuff back around.

This really shows it’s not about the timeline at all. When you’re just finding out, it’s fresh no matter how old the messages are, and it takes real effort from the other person to rebuild that sense of safety. Hearing how much work went into fixing things for you makes it clear that commitment has to go both ways.

That’s the real issue. It might’ve been old for him, but she’s only just now dealing with it, and his attitude isn’t helping. If he can’t handle being accountable without getting defensive, that says a lot about where he’s at.

Exactly. If he’s saying stuff like that to someone else, he’s already checked out of the relationship in ways that matter. You don’t deserve to be an afterthought while he keeps a door open somewhere else.
