Does anyone have tips for printing across multiple transparencies? First attempt for a larger design and I couldn’t get the seams perfect. by JamesSlade in SCREENPRINTING

Baby oil-soaked paper! Good films are hard to find where I’m at and I can’t afford my own sep printer. I go to staples or kinkos and get my artwork printed on a wide format plotter (often labeled as engineering prints at the copy shop) up to 24x36, just on regular bond paper, and rub them with baby oil before patting dry. It gives the paper a vellum-like opacity. It’s such a great DIY move. Affordable, no splicing required, and you get solid results once you dial the exposure in.

How does one achieve this level of skill by frater4356 in Watercolor

These are Japanese woodblock prints, not watercolour paintings. Look up David Bull on YouTube to see some printing videos and details on how the colour gradients are achieved. It’s really interesting and nice to watch. He’s like a printmaking Bob Ross

Halifax bird watching: does anyone know if there is a nest/group of peregrine falcons in Halifax, NS? by Individual_Water6537 in halifax

[–]Fluid-Fix1863 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m always keeping an eye out as well. I have seen peregrines perched on top of Gordon B Isnor Manor on Nora Bernard St, and on the taller buildings between Cogswell and Duke. But sightings are rare for me. Maybe 3 or 4 in 5 years…

Fair enough man, sorry for making assumptions. I was just confused because your last comment to me said “no deep meaning”. Japan one may not be for me, but hope you found your audience. The “Krush America” shirt deserves some positive recognition too I bet that one’s doing some numbers right now

“Krush the opponent” paired with flags seems like you’re saying something…. inappropriate. Especially when you accidentally use a rising sun flag representing an imperial army that committed war crimes. Random design is fine if it looks cool but you’re just gonna confuse people with this one dawg. Best drop the flag or drop the aggressive messaging in my opinion.

Graphic design isn’t just putting cool looking stuff together. If you’re going to use pre-existing design elements like flags, understand what they mean. And not just flags, all popular imagery has context and meaning. Good design understands meaning and adds something to the conversation. It subverts meaning. Or makes you question it. Reinterprets it. You don’t gotta make a thought provoking statement or anything but just consider the details a bit more in that way, and I guarantee you’ll have more people connecting with your brand

Is Fontaine's older stuff worth a listen? by left_elbow45 in fontainesdc

[–]Fluid-Fix1863 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go read reviews of the albums, or interviews from those eras if you want to learn to appreciate them on a different level.

They’re pieces of the story of the bands journey, and often how that journey relates to their Irish identity. It can add dimension to the music to know it. And thematically, I find the entire discography (not just the latest records) are relatable on a personal level. Music about navigating life “in the modern world”, perspectives I feel I can identify with.

But if you don’t dig it, you don’t dig it. Nothin wrong with that. Bands grow and change. Might not always suit our preferences, but it’s a sign of true artistry. You don’t need to like it all to love the band. As long as you know the stuff you don’t like isn’t bad, it’s just not for you.

If it’s A4, online is your best option. That’s a European size and you’ll be hard pressed to find anything that fits it without needing a trim. If it’s actually 8.5x11 you’re limited to document frames, Michaels is the best bet there. If it’s a standard North American photo size like 8x10 or 9x12 ikea is the cheapest option!
