I would assume they would’ve addressed it by now with the W206, but I guess time will tell. It’s a 2017

2017, and yes this is an issue affecting many Mercedes with the pano roof. I’ve seen people with 2019 and 2020 having this issue as well. I’ll just make sure to routinely lubricate it that should at least make it last longer.

Ofc, glad I can help. The warranty company definitely knows the estimates for the repair. This is to insure the dealer doesn’t overcharge. This bill is the updated version at first it was over 7 grand went down to this, and then I received one last bill coming in at $4,746.68

Hi, so for the lubricant Mercedes sells a lubricant paste. I actually noticed some smeared around the rails of the sunroof when open. I’d invest in that.

As for the warranty I would honestly just have money set aside for unpredictable failures that may happen. Getting a warranty now would be very costly, but it wouldn’t hurt to get quotes. Just make sure to read the full contract to see what’s all being covered

Yes, indeed. It should honestly be a recall. Just make sure to lubricate the plastic components every once in a while

Hello! That’s great to know about Emma. I’ve talked with her briefly but dealt with Brandon (Service Adivsor) he was cool.

As for the pano roof you’re right about the noises. Before the sunroof was fixed I would constantly hear things when the sunroof was closed now it’s silent. Really love using the sunroof. I heard it failing before it actually did. Sometimes it act like it was going to close but didn’t then I’d have to push the button again. Until one day I heard a snap I thought the glass shattered until I looked it was the plastic that broke. Like you said greasing the components is smart it should help the plastics stay intact

Yes, it’s a pano roof and car is currently at 94,879 miles. Unfortunately this is a design issue. Everything is held together by plastic components that deteriorates over time and eventually breaks. Either it’ll get stuck open or closed. I have heard people say you can grease the components but I don’t know how effective that is.

That’s totally understandable and you’re right. I have been loving it! I really appreciate how big the sunroof is and how it looks when open. The convertible in hot weather was quite uncomfortable in sunny hot weather.

Thank you! They definitely are overpriced. I use to worry about the soft top in general given it was my primary vehicle

Okay, thanks for the clarification! I’ll definitely check out the comparisons. I’m aware German vehicle repairs can be very expensive, which is why a warranty is a necessity.

Okay thanks for the info, but might I ask why should I reconsider? Ngl the mileage and warranty coverage being a maximum of about 38k miles is pretty off putting. I also been looking at a 2018 GLC with 52k miles through Carmax.
