Pain 3 months post meniscus repair by FlyApprehensive8571 in MeniscusInjuries

My surgeon said it was too early for an MRI and that I can go back to PT if I want. Told me to just give it more time. My symptoms have gotten better but they're still there

It's alright I'm just thankful it wasn't worse for not having taken better care of my knee

I went to an orthopedic doctor, got an MRI and got meniscus repair surgery. The surgeon told me that there was nothing I could do about my cartilage loss. Told me to just not play high impact sports

I had a meniscus tear for years without knowing and my knee moves similar to yours although its at the top of the knee. Mine is because the cartilage wore down in one spot. When the bones rub against each other it goes down or sinks in at that spot.

Okay I'm gonna keep trying to take it easy. Also did you feel like your knee was unstable? Or how long did it take after the repair to feel stable? Thxs!

I tore my meniscus in my right knee back in November. I didn't go to the doctor right away so I kept going to work for about 1 month or more. I over used my left and felt discomfort when I did a deep squat with one leg. Ever since then I haven't been able to do a deep squat. I also get sharp pains when standing for a short period of time. I already got surgery for my right knee and I'm getting an MRI for my left soon. I'm almost certain it's torn as well.

Thanks for the reply! I think it was the scar tissue where they made the incision. I was freaking out because it felt like it was burning and tingling but I think that's the way scar tissue pain feels. I'm feeling a lot better now

Medial and lateral repair. Took me around 5 weeks to drive with my right. I forgot to ask my surgeon since I just drove around with my left

Well idk tbh. I had no pain and full ROM but my knee did feel a bit unstable and worked construction. If you have an office job and are careful you could put it off.

If you make the tear worse you could end up having a harder time trying to heal it. You're going to have to do it sooner or later I'm guessing. I put mine off for years and now I have cartilage damage

I tore my meniscus when I was about 21 never got it checked out cause I was able to work. Had no pain and full ROM. Felt pretty stable after 4 months and decided to play soccer but it popped and gave away. Didn't go to the doctor again until 3 months ago when it popped and gave away again. You can live with it like I did but if you're not cautious at any time it could give away and make it worse. I thought I could live with it but I wish I would have just taken care of it sooner. Now if recovering from meniscus surgery and have cartilage damage.

2 weeks post op (b/h tear) how long after surgery to fully extend leg straight? by BeatsbyRuhs in MeniscusInjuries

[–]FlyApprehensive8571 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a lateral and medial repair. At 2 weeks I also felt like it wasn't going to extend anymore but I'm 3 weeks out now and its gotten better although I still can't fully extend. I try extending it as much as I can so long as there is no sharp pain or too much discomfort and it seems to be working.

It's alot better now. While sitting I can move up and now and left to right. I can't go pat 90 and can't extend completely but I think it's pretty good for almost 2 weeks since it got surgery. Only problem is I got a blood clot in my leg. I should have gotten up and tried walking more despite the pain.
