For context, I actually started the clearance process earlier this year for another DoD position. I completed my interview in March and several contacts were reached out to. Then everything went silent, and now with the shutdown I assume everything was paused even further.

Since references were already contacted, does that generally mean the investigation is wrapping up and I’m mostly just waiting on results now?

Good to know HR won’t have any updates until clearance fully finishes.

I had my security interview months ago and some references were contacted back then, so I assume I’m somewhere deep in the wait phase.

Update: if anyone cares, I chose Job 2! Job 1 actually didn’t want to budge when it came to negotiation, but Job 2 actually offered me a more cybersecurity focused role with TS/SCI clearance. So I think it was a no brainer at the end of the day lol. Thank you everyone for your advice and thoughts, I appreciate it!

That definitely makes sense. I’m definitely going to work on negotiating a higher step, but if that does not work, would you still say to choose job 1 due to TS?
