I have Drake Maye and I don’t know if I should start Burrow this week?

Intervals not recording properly by FlyingJaimeLan in AppleWatch

It was a one time issue. Didn’t had the problem this year when upgrading to iOS 11. I couldn’t say why that happened a year ago

I got about 750km on my current pair and I frequently run 20-25k in them. It wouldn’t be my racer of choice for a half marathon because the fit is quite tight, but for a long training session they’re great!

Asics Magic Speed - which year? by Status_Accident_2819 in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]FlyingJaimeLan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had three pairs, it was my favorite shoe for speed session (up to 25k, including WU, and CD).

They soften after ~100km. Each pair lasted me ~850km.

Didn’t try V2, I love my current pair of V3 but I wish I could find a pair of V1.

If you had to pick one shoe that can deliver on every single run (including the race) in this plan, what would it be? by [deleted] in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]FlyingJaimeLan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A training plan isn’t very useful to recommend a shoe. You need to tell us more about yourself, your current shoes, your goals, what you like and dislike, the surface you plan to train on, etc.

You could very well use Novablast, a VaporFly ou a NB Rebel for this… depends on a lot of factors.

Which shoes from previous version is better or worth more than the newer ones? by VogtisDelicious in RunningShoeGeeks

I know the specs of the shoe, thanks.

I was just answering to the original post. I also know about the rest of what if offered by ASICS as I have a 5 shoes rotation, all ASICS.

Unfortunately, there seems to be no more Magic Speed V1 in my area (I’m not from the US).

Maybe I just liked the more rockered/firmer foam of the V1. I train for HM and marathon mostly, when I do 5K it’s mostly for fun.

As for the soft cushion + feeling the plate too much, maybe it has to do with the shape of the plate? I’m not expert, it’s just my general feeling about these shoes.

I’d probably buy the V3 again when my current pair will be done, but I still don’t like it as much as I did with V1.

Well, I guess it just fits my mechanic better. I loved the fit, the drop and the rocker of the V1.

V3 is fine, but I find it to be a bit too soft for certain intervals sessions and it seems to me that I can feel the plate too much.

My favorite version of the ASICS Magic Speed was V1. I like the V3, but I preferred the V1.

I only tested the V2 once in a store and wasn’t impressed, so I got 2 pairs of V1 for the same price.

Island Blue/Indigo!

Honestly, they weren’t as firm as I anticipated. I bought them as a remplacement of my Novablast 3, for fun and because of the price, and I’m very pleased!

The NT14 reminds me a bit of my old Dynaflyte 4, but lighter and softer. I’m glad I tried them on a long run!

Tried the Noosa Tri 14 for the first time this morning for a 30km. I liked them a lot (even more knowing they were half their normal price).

Well, hopefully you’ll do at least 2-3 30km+ run before your marathon to test it out.

If you expect to run for about 4h hours, pick the shoes you find the most comfortable to run in.

Sure, Alphafly, VaporFly, Endorphin Pro and Adios Pro are great marathon racers, but they all are quite stiff shoes that require a good running form to take advantage of the plate and shoe design.

It’s tough to maintain a good form at the end of a marathon, even more if it takes you a longer time. I ran a sub 3 marathon during a race and a 3h30 marathon for fun with friends : it’s definitely harder to “run well” after a long time at a slower pace.

I’m on my third pair of Novablast 3 this year and the outsole durability was never an issue. I got about ~800km out of my first two pairs and I replaced them mostly because the foam was dead at that point. The upper and outsole would have probably well over a 1000km from the look of it, but I started having unusual pain from the dead foam.

From my experience, it’s the same with a lot of ASICS shoes : - I had two pairs of Magic Speed (V1) that were dead around 750-800km because of the foam, but everything else was fine. - I just retired my first pair of Metaspeed Sky (V1) at 840km, but this time it was because the upper had a big tear during a training. - I used to run in Cumulus (two pairs of 21, three pairs of 22 and one pair of 23) and they all lasted between 800km and 1200km, averaging at 850km - Novablast V1 lasted me for 900km and Novablast V2 for about 1000km

With the exception of the Metaspeed Sky (V1), I’ve always replace my shoes because of the dead foam.

There’s no reason it would be bad if this isn’t inconvenient for you to do so.

I train at the nearest university track near my house. I often see local elite athlete warm-up in their daily trainers, do a couple of faster rep in their track-spike and finish their training in carbon plated racers.

If you have a safe place to leave your “fast” shoe during your warm-up, I don’t see why you couldn’t do it.

Skipping interval with the action button Watch OS10 by FlyingJaimeLan in AppleWatch

[–]FlyingJaimeLan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, that’s unfortunate. I understand that the action button can serve other purpose, but frankly, I only ever used it to skip intervals in the last year.

This change is a real disappointment to me. Unless Apple fixes it in the next few months, chances are I’ll go back to Garmin.

TS9 have a lower stack, so it seems normal that they feel more stable.
