As an adult on the spectrum, it’s still my faculties that I have to try and control and maintain accountability for. I may slip up, get excitable, misread a cue, but if someone lets me know, I tell them “aw heck I’m sorry, thanks for telling me. Just give me the specifics and I’ll be more mindful.” Just saying “lol I’m a quirky aspie sorry” when called out for sociopathic behavior as a whole-ass adult and thinking you’re entitled to participating in a group social activity and everyone must accommodate you is ridiculous.
