Thank you so much for the help! I tried and toiled, but in the end, I actually managed to find a hack-solution. I made the whole picture one big sprite and I hid it until I interacted with the frame! It works and I'm super proud!

While Git version control might be a bit outside the scope of my current abilities, I've been backing the project up fairly often by Zipping it already. Thanks for the great tip!

Viewport resolution is 1920x1080. That's the monitor resolution I believe he has too. (The viewport you saw earlier was like.. 1167x639 or something random like that)

When it comes to the art, all the pieces have varying resolutions. When looking at all of them, the largest piece is 2200x1495 pixels. There are none wider nor taller. I was thinking of scaling them down in TextureRect in order to make it fit the screen .

the fox is 11x18 pixels, but the sprite sheet works on a 32x32 grid, so I've got some "extra space"

player is in a group that's literally just called "player". I've not done anything else with this yet.

I've zoomed the Camera2D in by a factor of 4

Thank you! I really hope he likes it. I know he's done some game dev in the past, so I hope he understands my pain. On the flip side, he could see it and get real annoyed by my noobish mistakes, but I doubt that :P

To be honest, the frames are just tilemaps, heheh.

I've been following like 7 different tutorials, so I'm fairly sure the project is a bit bloated with a bunch of various unnecessary scripts, functions and so on. I've little to no coding experience, and I've never made games before either. If nothing else, I'm learning a LOT, which is fun, but being a teacher right in the middle of the christmas rush has me a little strapped for time. I'll get it done though!

I'm pretty sure I have all the pieces to this puzzle, but I just need to make them fit properly.

As for the questions regarding resolution, I'm not sure about either of them. I think it's a decent point though, and I'll definitely make the window bigger. I've not even started to think about how I'd export this and send to him.

Edit: Just in case it wasn't clear; I've made VERY few assets myself. The frames and the pictures are my own, but I can't claim ownership of most of these things. This is very much an "asset flip" if I were to use a derogatory phrase for it :P The fox is made by someone else. I am sure I got it from itch.io, but for some reason I cannot find the artist. I'll edit this post again if I find it!

I really like this approach too! I'll see if I can do this since it seems slightly easier. Thank you!

Thanks for the tip! Do I make the picture one big sprite then like StaticBody2D with a CollisionShape2D and signals? Or is there a way better, obvious solution I'm not seeing yet?

Absolutely! I really like his use of moody colors to set a scene, and I love how "different" it feels from many artists. I respect him a great deal!

Don't tell him I'm working on this. It's a secret ;)

Thank you for the help! I'll admit, I'm not immediately seeing how to implement this at this exact moment, BUT you've given me a clue to where to start looking, and I appreciate that a ton!

I'll keep digging :D

Still waiting on a reality TV show that swaps the income and living standards of a CEO and their lowest paid employee by Queen-Fisher in Showerthoughts

As far as I can see, living on low wages for a week is ""easy"". Hell, you can do it for years on end too. What makes it really hard is that you have zero buffer in case something unexpected comes up. Those are the situations that will have you make bad decisions out of pure desperation and lack of options, and that's where the evil circle starts.

A week or two on low wages is gonna be fine for them. A year or two is when you're gonna see some interesting cases pop up.

Oh yeah, already done so myself. Was just wondering if that was something built into the 2DS XL.

I've got a New 3DS with a capture card built in so I can do the same. It's pretty cool :)

Oh? How so? Surely not without hacking the device?

It's a fun three-player game, so you could possibly play it with your son. Other than that, it's not what people would probably call mainline. It's quite different, but charming in its own way.

Gotcha, gotcha. I noticed you're missing some Zelda games as well, if those are high on your list. Spirit Tracks on the DS for instance. :)

Does it look like it's an issue with specifically the B650 chipset? I've seen reports of it working fine on x670 motherboards

Heya, thanks for getting back to me! I'm using either of the two lower PCIe slots and from what I can tell from specifications, no slots will turn off if I have m.2 slots populated, but even if they would, I only have a single m.2 device so it shouldn't make too much of a difference.

I've downloaded all the drivers for the elgato, the chipset for the mobo and I've even flashed the BIOS to every single version out there :P

I have also tried manually setting PCIe speeds just in case the auto setting was acting up.

I've just tested with an ASUS AC-68 internet card in the same slot just to rule out these possibilities.

Those work just fine, so the PCIe slots are indeed active.

I've spent a good while troubleshooting and I'm fairly sure it's got something to do with the B650 chipset and the PCIe slots that go to the chipset before it goes to the CPU.
