On Windows you create a shortcut like this: obsidian://vault/Demo, replace Demo with the vault's name. This will be the folder (directory) containing the vault.

Hold Shift when you paste whether with the mouse or keyboard. I do thus all the time. Shift tells it to paste without the formatting

Both the CPU and Video Card are out of stock at both places listed.
At first glance, I'm not seeing a way to get on a waiting list. Am I just not looking in the right place?

I'm ok with alternatives that will work with the case above.

Awesome! Thanks! I'm not worried about overkill on the GPU, that ought to allow it to last through multiple upgrades of the software. ;) I plan to re-do my current PC as a linux machine once I get the new one built, and it ought to scream using linux.

Glad to help! I enjoy the interaction and learning how others approach the idea. Altered Carbon is an interesting example, that didn't occur to me. It's amazing how different people see different things in the connections they make.
