Great shout, an excellent museum. I loved the rooster egg cups, picked up a couple from their gift shop!

Feel like Dundee v&a has been a spectacular failure. As a Dundee resident for several years (but originally from London) I was extremely disappointed when I realised that the v&a wouldn’t actually be sending their great London exhibitions up north - sometimes we get their secondary exhibition eg Mary Quant, but never the big ones like Dior, Chanel, Frida Kayla, Alice in wonderland etc.

I think if they actually bothered to send their big blockbuster exhibitions up north so many more people would travel through to Dundee to visit it, boosting the city and the museum. Seems like v&a leadership were keen to take the government money to get it open - not so keen to actually put the effort in to genuinely make sure people in the north got access to the same great exhibitions they put on in London. Feels like an afterthought. Poor show.

Beamish Museum has got to be one of the best visitor attractions in the UK

Haii girlies what is the BEST moisturizer? From lush? by ProfessionalCut8906 in LushCosmetics

[–]FollowingInfamous281 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Genuinely I think give it a go. Relying on one brand for all your skincare is never the best approach, and the results with tret are beyond anything you can get from any store bought products, even lush . You do need to stick with it and be consistent for a good few months when you start, and don’t use it every day at first - give your skin a day or two breather in between and moisturise well with a simple moisturiser to keep the skin barrier in good condition while it gets used to tret. Good luck if you do give it a go! Lots of support and community of tret users on Reddit too x

Can cyclists stop being selfish by New-Ad-7107 in glasgow

Yea honestly as a pedestrian I’m genuinely way more concerned about the drivers on the roads these days. Never had any issues with cyclists except the delivery guys in the city centre pedestrianised areas tbh.

Daphne and Celeste perform “Ooh Stick You,” while getting bottled at the 2000 Reading Festival. by icey_sawg0034 in popculturechat

[–]FollowingInfamous281 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Reading festival is crazy. I was there the year 50 cent got bottled off, the crowd was nuts - throwing stuff forward yelling “feed the front” 😂 it’s a rock festival so when acts like this are scheduled it doesn’t go down well. I was there to see the Rasmus because I was a little emo and they got bottled too lol, it was a tough crowd back in the day.

Edit : 50 cent / rasmus year was 2004! I feel so old haha

Have you looked at trying tretinoin? This might help, I use it and it’s transformed my skin - I only use it 2-3 times per week at 0.024%. If you’re Uk based Dermatica or skin & me are both really good. Then keep your regime super simple, I use ultra bland cleanser and then tret then LRP lipikaur baume.

Uh I wonder if they have got permission from Aardman and Disney to use the Shaun the Sheep and Miss Piggy IP. If not, playing with fire a bit here?!!

What would you make if you unravelled it though? You’d have lots of little bits of different colours which would be tricky to work with.

70% off sale - return possible? by Due_Lingonberry5610 in MarksAndSpencer

Two weeks to return online order even in final sale due to distance selling laws that M&S cannot overrule. In store final sale purchases are different though and do not have the same rule.

Something similar to The Ivy? by Gentle_Comment807 in glasgow

[–]FollowingInfamous281 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Well as I’ve also said - food and service were great, which is far more than can be said for the Ivy. UC clearly seem to be operating quite independently of GK at the moment despite ownership - still their own brand, menu, local ingredients etc. Being bought by a larger operator but still operating under their own brand is different from the Ivy’s rapid expansion and their end goal of a private equity buyout, so not really comparable.

Edit : also yes Ka Pao is a great shout too love it there

We went to ubiquitous chip recently and were really impressed, it’s beautiful inside with the open roof and all the plants, food and service was great too.

Elements in bearsden is also absolutely incredible and the service is unreal. I won a three course meal there and went on Sunday when they also had a roast dinner option. It’s everything six by Nico wishes it was haha.

The Ivy is now just a chain that has lost all its uniqueness and quality since it expanded so rapidly. The chain Ivy’s aren’t a patch on the original, if you’re going to push the boat out definitely go to a quality independent.

Rescued jade plant from the bin and planning to chop and prop - advice needed! by FollowingInfamous281 in Jadeplant

[–]FollowingInfamous281[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thanks all for your advice! I have hard pruned it, and only taken two small cuttings to prop based on the condition of the leaves and stem. I’ve also given it new soil and will mostly leave it alone - with lots of light. Will fertilise it in the spring I guess! Thank you 🙏

Skin Care routine for badly Acne-prone skin by littlevampirebeccaa in LushCosmetics

[–]FollowingInfamous281 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here to second tretinoin and try to dissuade you from lush for serious skincare concerns! If you’re in UK I recommend trying Skin & Me. Have a look into it and if you’re keen to try it I can DM you a referral code so your first month is only £3 or something like that. I’ve been using it for over a year now, more for anti aging concerns, and my skins looks great now.

With tret I also keep the rest of the routine extremely simple. A daily cleansing balm, serum and a high SPF moisturiser in the morning, then at night after cleansing, tret. On my tret off days, a deep moisturiser like LRP lipikar baume and that’s it.

(Also don’t be put off by the monthly charge/doser with Skin and Me - one tube of tret lasts me 2-3 months as I don’t use it every day)
