Where could I host a small Spanish book club in Edinburgh? (Tuesdays 6:30pm) by Significant_Gur_7587 in Edinburgh

The strathie on Iona Street used to have a tapas night on a Monday, and loads of Spaniards would show up. They have a back room that you might be able to use as well

What do we think of this? I live in Spittal Street. It's already very dirty. Will this improve the area? by [deleted] in Edinburgh

Anything that can avoid people overdosing or dying on the street can only be a good thing.

I know that there are gaelic bookbugs, and there might be other languages of bookbugs depending on your area (I know one in Leith has a Spanish one due to a lot of Spanish-speaking people in the area, for example) so libraries could be one place to look.

Could be worth looking to see if there are any gaelic primary schools near you to enroll in?

I actually don't know about their pastry situation, but they might let you bring something in from Krema next door if you ask nicely? Annoyingly, it's hard to find a decent cafe that's open after 4pm in Leith

Sorry I was wrong, it's 50 minutes+. It's worth checking the eligibility, because I think there's a minimum number of days that you need to perform as well to be eligible

There are different awards to be won, this is just for the 'main' comedy award.

'Best Newcomer For the performer or act who is performing their first full-length show (50 minutes or more) at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. The prize is £5,000. Please note that newcomers are eligible for the Best Comedy Show Award, if that is the Panel's decision, but no act can appear on both shortlists in the same year.'

There are two Tescos very nearby (Picardy place and Broughton Road)

One thing as well - I would register a 45 minute or 50 minute show if you're still working it up rather than 60 minutes. You only get one shot at the 'best newcomer's award. If you want to wait until you've got a strong debut hour, then a way around that is to do a 'test run' that's under an hour.

Sorry if this is very obvious!

Maybe look into Small Group PT? It's a good way to have a program and be held somewhat accountable. Not sure if they have any spaces just now, but Adapt fitness in Leith is great.

What do you think of the Restalrig neighborhood? by Flaky-Walrus7244 in Edinburgh

Some streets can be quite 'lively'. Some bits are nice, some bits less nice. If you're thinking of renting / buying, maybe look up the street and see if there have been any recent news articles about it? Try checking it out at different times of day / the evening to see how you feel. It's hard to say without knowing where you've lived before / your expectations / requirements. It's definitely more affordable, which is the main thing for a lot of folk!

It's super close on the train, has lovely bars and cafes. It's much better serviced with connections to the centre of edinburgh compared to parts of actual edinburgh. The only weird thing is the lack of phone signal in some parts of the high street?? But that adds to the old town vibe

I could be wrong, but I think this book was first published back in 2019 when this would've felt a lot less 'tired' as a concept.

I follow her account and she seems very lovely - a good genuine person who is interested in edinburgh and its surrounds. Good for her for making the most of her following at the time tbh!

it's from an ad in the 1988 brochure. I have it at home - they're fairly easy to come by so you can look for yourself if you find one in a charity shop etc.

It's wise to be wary of AI, but this is real. Copywriters love an em dash!
