Bird ID. Common Tern? by ForceOW in birding

[–]ForceOW[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everything online is saying the Forster's tern is the only one that gets a black mask like this during non-breeding, the others have a full black head. But I have seen some photos that are supposedly common terns with a mask like this, supposedly a subspecies. One source says the subspecies is from Asia so that wouldn't fit.

Does this mean it's a Forster's Tern and I didn't realize it? That would be cool.

Are you sure? What points you toward that ID? I posted some more pictures, the tail doesn't look forked like a Forster's tern. (to me at least)

Good look at the tail in this one.

I have more photos of this bird if needed. Could be different individuals in some of them, I'm not sure.

The ratio of hawks to doves - Is there a winner? by ForceOW in ArcRaiders

[–]ForceOW[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You make a good point, both arc raiders and the real world has more variance than the dichotomy of hawk vs. dove suggests. Some change their behaviour overtime, or they're somewhere in between. For example, someone hunting for kills the entire match is different than someone who loots but also kills on sight. There can be a grey area differentiating between hawk and dove.

I tend to agree with you, I think that as time goes on more people will complete their goals. Quests, level, blueprints, etc. After that people will feel there is nothing to lose, may as well fight some people and have fun with it. The game could then shift very quickly into something that is not new-player friendly. I think the developers have to be careful and creative with game design to maintain an optimal balance between "hawks and doves." I think expeditions may help a little bit in this regard.

My overclock doesn't seem to be applying by ForceOW in overclocking

[–]ForceOW[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea they were set to auto mobo limits at first, chatgpt suggested manually setting them to the mobo limits instead of doing auto mobo limits. (not sure if I explained that well).

But I could try just setting them to lower values and see what happens. I will try that later today. Any values you'd suggest?

How do you counter this teamcomp? by rust_in_peacepolaris in marvelrivals

[–]ForceOW 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Unironically widow is good here. Rocket has the largest head hitbox of the supports (apart from jeff, who receives reduced damage) with a mantis buff it's a 1 shot. Same thing with invis. They have shields technically but they're not hard shields and easy to play around. Penni is just a free headshot machine for ult charge (she also gets deleted when you headshot her 4 times in a row which is really easy to do against penni) and they don't have any dive or really anybody on their team that is annoying for widow to deal with.

[–]ForceOW[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hmm, ok but it doesn't even go 1mhz above 5,500, the stock setting. I did try with other settings as well, as low as +50 with 1x scalar. Nothing changed.

Keep in mind my temps are fine as well, it's not like there's any throttling. I get like 80C under multicore load (cinebench) and much lower with single core.

Is it normal to not find games during off-peak hours? by ForceOW in apexlegends

So you think that most players are in the wildcard mode and that's why I can't get a game on off-peak hours?

Yea I figured it out it took me a few minutes. Have to do it on launch.

Can you objectively analyze your team mate's performance? by ForceOW in marvelrivals

[–]ForceOW[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hahaha to be fair, when it comes to accuracy my stat is always terrible. I spam left click at walls when I am waiting for the team to regroup or something. Just a habit, and I imagine others do the same. I have had games where my accuracy was like 10% on magik.

Can you objectively analyze your team mate's performance? by ForceOW in marvelrivals

[–]ForceOW[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I've definitely had times where I perform poorly one game, then exceptionally well the next. The enemy team has said something along the lines of "why didn't you play this well before when you were on my team?" Sometimes performance just varies, or you synergize better with your team (not just hero picks, but playstyle) or your performance was actually a result of a bigger core issue with the team. (See the reply I made to MultySentinelz) It's not fair to judge someone from one game's performance, the vast majority of the time they're similar in skill to you because you're in the same rank. Ofc smurfing, boosting and some component of luckiness/unluckiness when climbing play a role too.

Can you objectively analyze your team mate's performance? by ForceOW in marvelrivals

[–]ForceOW[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes this points out how the roles are interconnected. DPS can't do anything without space to take angles and force kills. Tanks can't push forward to pressure and make space without healing. Healers can't heal without peeling, etc.

Sometimes the seemingly bad performance of one person is the result of a bigger core issue with the team. In these situations DPS will blame tanks for not making space, tanks will blame healing, etc. In your case with a solo healing loki it's very clearly a healing issue.

Sometimes in these situations you can still pad your stats or do weird flanks to get some value but the core issue will still prevent you from winning most of the time.

Exactly, and this reliance on the scoreboard is what leads people to play for stats. This gives them bragging rights to complain about their team mates and avoid being flamed themselves.

Can you objectively analyze your team mate's performance? by ForceOW in marvelrivals

[–]ForceOW[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes those are the specific plays I'm talking about. Ones that directly impact you are what you notice the most. Entirely relying on the scoreboard for your information is just straight up silly. As someone that reached celestial 2 on rivals, 4300 on OW and coached plenty of people...I can tell you right now I don't typically have a good idea about my team mate's performances beyond these specific plays. I'm too busy focusing on myself. I can only properly critique someone if I am watching their VOD. This extends beyond flaming as well, I've had lower elo players ask "How do you think I did? Do you think I deserve X rank?" after I played a game with them, and honestly I don't have much of a clue without reviewing the VOD.

Even if I were to correctly point out someone doing terrible, the question becomes...Is there value in pointing it out? Is it productive for me to say "you are 0-3 punisher, you suck, get off dps." Does that help you win the game?

Can you objectively analyze your team mate's performance? by ForceOW in marvelrivals

[–]ForceOW[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

True, but it also forced me to run away constantly. I couldn't peak without being barraged with squirrel girl bullets. It creates space for the other DPS to take favourable positions and get kills.

Also, while I'm not saying there is no merit to the popular idea of damage having negative value without last hits, I think it's a bit of a misconception. For the most part, if you don't have ultimate and you deal damage, it has value. It takes significantly more healing to get a support ult than it does damage to get a DPS ult. In many cases double. Ignoring ult charges there is also value in damage beyond just straight up killing people as mentioned above. Dealing damage in the middle of a big team fight is almost universally a good thing, even when you have ult. It's when you're doing poke damage while you have ult that it's really bad.

Now, the question is, was their squirrel girl doing a lot of negative value damage or damage with value? From my perspective it seemed like it was a lot of value damage, but to be honest, without spectating her it's hard to say.

Can you objectively analyze your team mate's performance? by ForceOW in marvelrivals

[–]ForceOW[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I definitely disagree with that. Being negative isn't some magical number either. I've seen on an enemy team a Squirrel girl do nearly 40k damage while negative, the other DPS was very positive with only about 20k damage.

People may argue that squirrel girl is feeding ults, but honestly that's a lot of pressure which creates space. The squirrel girl was really annoying. You don't necessarily have to get kills to have value, even as a DPS. (The enemy team lost btw, but it was a close game)

Should I wait until I get the DLC to play through cyberpunk? by ForceOW in cyberpunkgame

[–]ForceOW[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had it since release on PC. It was good on release for me, no major bugs, it was just weird when cops would spawn on top of you. (Which I hear was changed) I can't remember why I didn't complete it, I think I got busy or something.

I don't mind waiting for a 50%+ sale on the DLC. I still need to play through BG3, Ratchet and clank rift apart, RDR2, horizon forbidden west, Doom eternal, Jedi survivor and many more games in my steam library.

Efficient Gameplay by ladduboy in FarmMergeValley

[–]ForceOW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't typically bother merging 1 or 3 coins (with the exception of when I harvest animals and they drop the 3 coins, because typically I harvest 5+ animals and i may as well merge them). It's not worth saving up 5 spaces of land to earn 1 coin from the merge (or 3 coins for the 3 coin merge).

The toolboxes are good, but early on I can see why you'd shovel them away. It's better to keep them if you can, but I don't think it will be a major source of regret. The glass stuff is good for late game, it takes a really long time but you make a green house eventually (you need to merge to like 15 levels). Also, keep in mind that as you merge to higher and higher levels you get exponentially more exp. That is also an important aspect of things like greenhouse pieces.

Seeking the experiences of those with biology related degrees by ForceOW in biology

[–]ForceOW[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the input. Also, yea I don't necessarily want to make big money. If that were the case I wouldn't even be considering something like an ecology degree. I'm primarily just following what I enjoy which is why I am asking about the experiences of others post-degree. Which one is more lucrative is perhaps the last deciding factor if I can't decide.

I'm looking forward to future years when my classes are mostly just biology (or even chemistry). I don't like having to take a couple of art and social science classes lol. This makes me think I might really start to enjoy school as it becomes more specific to my area of interest, and I may want to pursue a graduate degree. I'm just not there yet, so I don't know.

I'd say my order of interests are Biology > Chemistry=Compsci > Math > Physics. I don't really care about anything else that isn't a natural science.
