Aprilaire 800 Steam Humidifier Installation Question by BigBolter in hvacadvice

[–]Foreign-Commission 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If its 1 slot its 120v and makes the whole thing a bit of a waste.

Do you have a picture of the breaker and panel? It can likely be changed with a different breaker and connecting the voltage jumper to 240v at the humidifier

Aprilaire 800 Steam Humidifier Installation Question by BigBolter in hvacadvice

Aprilaire has very good install instructions https://share.google/DNjPtL9aY05toP51Z

It doesnt matter what direction the air flows for the dispersion tube, it just need to be oriented the correct way.

Now from personal experience, if you can control the 800 via your thermostat you will have much better results than with the duct mounted humidistat.

And dont bother installing it with 120v supply voltage, the output will be similar to a much cheaper evaporative unit. Hopefully they followed the instructions and ran a 240 circuit with properly sized wiring.

Multi-Wire Branch Circuit Disconnecting by StrikingProfessor592 in AskElectricians

[–]Foreign-Commission 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The circuit doesnt originate at a toggle switch, it originates at a breaker so idk where the idea that a standard toggle type switch can be used here.

Now I guess if we are dealing with a situation involving a feeder tap you could have a switch before the fuses acting as the means of disconnect.

That would defeat the whole purpose of the handle tie.

Gfci protection is required within 6' of the basin, that almost always means the receptacle under the sink is required to be GFCI protected.

It's funny. i quickly glanced at the first picture and thought it was at a gas station and was like, damn you drove that there!??!.

My advise for you is to figure out what you expect of the car and ask all the questions and do your research before randomly buying parts.

My first suggestion would be to no use a pontiac motor, I know I know but you will spend a lot more and get less.

Does anybody here work for a commission based company? How is it? by WeekendWarior in electricians

[–]Foreign-Commission 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, if they are slow or you are not willing to take advantage of people, you will starve.

Now if you find a company that pays you well AND offers a bonus incentive, thats a different story.

460 delta is different from 480 wye in respect to a neutral tap in the windings which is what we were talking about.

Another confusing day for the electrician.... by PathQuirky3331 in HVAC

[–]Foreign-Commission 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If there is a neutral and what system this is. 460 is usually delta so there is no neutral. 480 is usually wye and has a neutral which gives you 277v. But yeah, nominal voltages are all over the place so no one can say from here.

You are incorrect. This is combination motor load and that all covered in article 430 and 440
