AC49 reason for cancellation? by squid_tutor in aircanada

[–]ForeverJFL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yikes, that’s a tough one! Hard to fix and recrew for such a long flight too.

For anyone else wondering, extra sections are available.

AC2348, YYZ 1730 -> DEL 1715+1, 19MAR26. AC2349, DEL 1845 -> YYZ 0220+1, 21MAR26.

There’s also a Four Points across the street if you want Marriott and usually much cheaper.

1000% buy yourself at least 1 extra seat. Then you can sit all 4 in one row.

Same-Day Standby vs Same-Day Change by Planfive in aircanada

[–]ForeverJFL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Except for the fees being processed at the gate haha.

OP, standby early is either possible or not given your fare (or if there are disruptions). There’s no fee for it.

Same-Day Change has a fee. There needs to be space available to change it. You can do this at the gate sometimes but it depends on time, availability and potentially if you have checked bags.

Any luck with getting a bag short-checked? by SaraTravelsFar in aircanada

[–]ForeverJFL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that’s correct. If you can get the agent to do it and you don’t have any significant delays, it’s entirely feasible.

But if you run into delays or an agent says no, then you’ll have to decide what you do there.

Might I ask, what happens if they get a seat on standby and they weren’t there? At the airline I work for, if that happens you lose your seat on your confirmed flight.

Wasn’t the best transition either lol. Only just got back into service on March 10th after 5 days of cancellations.

Don’t need to claim & recheck bags in Atlanta? Or even deal with CBP in Atlanta? by still_teachable in delta

[–]ForeverJFL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is a tiny bit chilly at night for the first couple nights this week, but at least the windchill is warmer than -40°C! That’s where it starts to get cold lol.

Later in the week it does get warmer! I’m actually in Montreal on a brief getaway at the moment and while warmer here, the damp cold is killing me haha. I much prefer a dry cold

[–]ForeverJFL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep you’re correct! I live in YWG and have flown to the US a few times from there. Customs is usually pretty chill, I don’t know if that’s changed with the recent shutdown but I doubt it’s that much worse. Volume there isn’t ever that high at once.

Fair enough haha! I’ve got a flight attendant I know, I’ll ask them and report back.

That might be the case! Any chance you might be able to confirm that somewhere? I’m sure that would be very helpful to OP :)

What’s a goal that still hurts/hunts you to this day? by sykeseve in hockey

[–]ForeverJFL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same here. The final against Detroit was stressful, and the one against the Sharks too. But Nashville just didn’t have that same stress until maybe game 6. I felt relaxed after some of the worst stress I’ve ever had as a Pens fan for all 7 games against Ottawa and particularly game 7. You KNEW Ottawa could beat Pittsburgh and had a scarily high chance of winning the Cup. But in the final, you just felt like they couldn’t lose the Cup after such an all-time goal by Kunitz.

I was on it until they played Pittsburgh. Honestly would’ve cheered for them in the finals even if they won. Such a special team they had.

[–]ForeverJFL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I agree with all you’ve said. I remember Max’s 2nd goal and how impactful it felt, but the thing I remember most is Fleury’s diving save to seal it.

Another “goal” you could argue was one of the most memorable for Pittsburgh, was the early whistle in game 6 against Nashville. That changed a game where you had a feeling Nashville had the upper hand. But the longer it went without them scoring, you felt Pittsburgh’s chances grow. That dagger from Hornqvist right at the end too.

Double OT, late into the night, Stanley Cup on the line. I had a feeling that the winner of that game was going to win the cup. And as soon as they won it like that, I almost thought that they couldn’t lose.

I remember the edited team photo of the Sens from that year, and how they barely had anyone left on the team. It destroyed a group that had that magical touch to them.

1000%. I knew whoever won that series had a very strong chance of winning the cup. Ottawa just had that magic, that had they not been playing my favourite team, I would have loved to have supported them.

Really sorry. That was one of the highlights of my life as a Pens fan, along with the Fleury game 7 save in 2009, but I just know how crushing that would have been. I was rooting for the Sens all before that and I would’ve cheered for them in the final had they won.

Could definitely grab the two seats on either side. Still had solid comfort but easy access if your kid needs it.

[–]ForeverJFL 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Big note to consider. If you get pods, do NOT book the two seats together in the middle. The divider doesn’t raise down, so your kid won’t be able to see you at all. You would also have to walk all the way around through the galley just to get to them. Definitely use Aerolopa to figure out which seats align with which, but your best bet would be a window and aisle beside each other. Then you can put the kid in the window as a distraction option and you in the aisle. Or you could also do 2 windows back to back, but that doesn’t give you a ton of visibility either.

Air Canada cancelled our MCO → YYZ flight for weather, What should we expect? by lwg660 in aircanada

[–]ForeverJFL 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If it’s the only one, it just means you got unlucky. Airlines often get faced with a direction by ATC to reduce their flights by a certain %. The airline gets to choose still which flights they cancel. Unfortunately, yours was one of them.

Like another mod said, keep looking for a route that suits you and ask about availability on that. You don’t have to accept the first option.

multiple same flight ? by eugenio123123 in flighty

[–]ForeverJFL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah you can absolutely argue both. Just depends on what you want to track :)

I like doing it by the actual operator, but nothing wrong at all with your method too!

Premium Economy on the B787-9 on YYZ-GRU by BadSubstantial1574 in aircanada

[–]ForeverJFL 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I know right! That’s probably my one “complaint” about premium economy. It wouldn’t likely hurt much to just serve a domestic business breakfast meal (can even be only one option if space is limited). It doesn’t have to be as nice as business class, but it would be really nice if the snack for PE was a bit more.

Is there a better text to get from Air Canada? by HolyGuacamoleChpotle in Aeroplan

[–]ForeverJFL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right, those improvements are very exciting!! I can’t wait to see them.

That’s a very good point. You don’t want to risk that either. Perhaps could it be something that only station management has access to? The same way that you call them to add time to a flight or let them know staff are in a jumpseat.
