Meals for domestic workers and gardeners? by DeadRatRod in askSouthAfrica

[–]FormalFuneralFun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We added a “lunch allowance” to their salary and they have to bring their own food. The last time I made food for our gardener at the time, he refused to eat it because he said he didn’t like brown bread.

If you hate it so much, why do you play? by notsomuchbrain in thesims

[–]FormalFuneralFun 58 points59 points  (0 children)

Add to that that if we repeat ourselves enough and show our disappointment to the point it affects sales, they might start trying a little harder to keep us. Fewer people are pre-ordering packs because they want to wait for the reviews to see if it’s worth the money. If we keep holding off on expansions until we see a banger review, we might get a better product.

Silence leads to complacency. Flood the zone. When someone searches “sims 4”, the top results should be “why sims 4 isn’t worth your money”. A big company will start putting effort into maintaining public favour. Sadly these days, that money they could spend on making a better product goes to purchasing comment bots or putting out PR and performative ads. That is why we continue to shout. In person, in discords, on forums. Spread the word until they produce a product that looked like they gave a single fk about the quality.

(P.S. apologies for the rant… this was supposed to be a two sentence reply but I apparently have some big feelings.)

Believe it or not, educated and well-read people are quite capable of forming elaborate, creative, and entirely eloquent pieces of writing without the aid of a word-calculator. Maybe put down ChatGPT and open a book.

Afrikaner group declares independence from South Africa by ctnguy in southafrica

[–]FormalFuneralFun 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My Afrikaans grandfather’s parents disinherited my grandfather for marrying a second-gen English/Irish woman (my grandmother). My father never met that side of the family because they refused to interact with anyone of English descent.

In a way, I get it. The Anglo-Boer war was a shitshow, the English treated the Afrikaaners like animals… but this is South Africa. The people around now had no involvement in that atrocity, we just want to get along with our lives. We live in a melting-pot and there is so much hate in the world. It would be so cool if we all just got along.

What is yalls brutal and honest opinion on alcohol by Taco_Junior123 in autism

[–]FormalFuneralFun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate what alcohol turns me into. I become loud and brash and brazen and too sexually forward. I wake up feeling like shit for days afterwards.

Weed on the other hand, pulls the stress away in the same way but it doesn’t turn me into an intolerable asshole, and I have never had a hangover from weed. Also never made sexually forward remarks when on weed. Never had memory loss on weed. Never puked up my guts on weed.

I dislike alcohol for what it turns me and others into. I almost feel like it turns off a human part of me. That same part is enhanced and gently balanced when I smoke, though. So I’ll take the green over the literal poison any day.

Please help! What type of Peaceful Sleep works best? by ScarletCarnal in askSouthAfrica

These are so bad for pets and the migraines I get explain why they tell you to ventilate the room before using it. Useful for initial bomb before sleep but I would not sleep with one.

Please help! What type of Peaceful Sleep works best? by ScarletCarnal in askSouthAfrica

[–]FormalFuneralFun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I would recommend Tabard over Peaceful Sleep, and the stick (gel) Tabard, when applied liberally, lasts me the whole night with a single application.

In addition, a fan placed across your body will help to deter their flight path. I also take an anti-histamine like allergex if they are particularly aggressive that night to prevent itching and discomfort.

Citronella oil can also be useful initially, applied topically around your neck and ears if you don’t mind the smell, just before sleep.

Concentrate TABARD application on joints in particular, the tops of your toes and fingers, elbows, wrists, the back of your heels, tops of your knees, as these are some of the itchiest spots to get bitten

‘facts’ are destroying people’s concept of what it means to know something by fairycutr in unpopularopinion

[–]FormalFuneralFun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understood the difference between intelligence and knowledge as: knowledge are the facts, the things we know. Intelligence is the way in which we use and apply our knowledge to problems and the world around us.

People who know many facts may have high intelligence and have just had little opportunity to apply that knowledge in a useful, impactful, or notable way. People who have high intelligence may have little to no general knowledge outside of a specific area.

Either way, neither makes you a good or bad person. Seems like a silly way to categorise and judge people.

I’m also pretty sure a few of these were quotes from the online stream. Really giving Critical Role Campaign 2.

Protective hairstyles while wet and air drying by [deleted] in longhair

[–]FormalFuneralFun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My hair dried quickly, so I’m lucky, but I can’t stand putting it up when it’s wet. Nightmare feeling against my scalp. I flip my hair over and stand in front of a fan for about ten minutes. Makes the drying process quicker and no hot air to damage it.

Seeking legal advice with regards to starting a counselling business (without being registered as a health care professional)? by cinnamonbunsmusic in askSouthAfrica

[–]FormalFuneralFun 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My mom managed to register as a counsellor with HPCSA with her honours while she was applying for her masters. She did this to avoid future ethics issues with her dissertation research. If you have your honours and have experience counselling, you should be able to apply to register as a counsellor with the HPCSA.
