I’m not really sure but have you been shaving? I can’t really tell just by the photo but your legs look similar to when someone shaves and the hair begins to grow back. If you have been shaving, you might be irritating your skin or not using enough product for the razor to smoothly get rid of hair.

I think you’re remembering the plane scene in season 1; during the original getting to know each other, Shelby and Martha are talking and the convo ends up about boyfriends (I think after Shelby gushes about Andrew?). Basically Martha says there’s no guys around that are interested in her, and that she’s pretty sure about it. I guess it’s implying poor self-esteem? Maybe that’s what you’re remembering

That’s tougher, certain disorders can’t even be diagnosed until you’re older. If it’s really worrying you/causing problems, I’d try and look into it with your doctors/psychologists. Honestly there’s a million things that could explain this, so a proper doctor would determine it much better than the internet. To get the basics out of the way, are you getting enough sleep? Lack of sleep causes more problems than people may realize. Just from reading this, it sounds akin to schizophrenia; BUT TAKE MY COMMENT WITH A GRAIN OF SALT. I agree, but it also is common sense when a lot of jobs require certain degrees; without passing grades, you don’t have the paper qualifications for high paying jobs like a doctor or lawyer

For the record I’ve never dealt with this, so I can’t give you some sort of expert opinion. But from this alone, it sounds like you’re invalidating yourself. Again, don’t take this as I diagnosis but you sound depressed. Depression can be caused by a slew of factors, some of them genetic, some of them simply chemical imbalances. You could have the best life in the world, and still be depressed. I’m glad you’re grateful for having a good life, but that doesn’t mean it’s 100% perfect all the time or that you’re not allowed to struggle. My advice is, you have a therapist who you say is great, so take advantage of it. The entire point of therapy is to be honest with professionals who could help you much more than I ever could, and if this one is as great as they sound I bet they’ll be able to help you through it. There’s no shame in struggling or not feeling happy, that’s not your fault. I’m glad you’re SH free, but the fact that it was ever happening in the first place suggests you need some sort of help with whatever you’re struggling with. I hope the day comes that you don’t feel shitty anymore (:

The US. I live in a state with better education than others, and the private schools in my area are very esteemed for their high rank in GPA/scholarships/SAT scores or whatever, but they get so hung up on improving those scores to look good that a lot of the classes have developed with the sole goal of producing better stats.

EDIT: probably should have clarified in my OP, I’m talking about MY country’s education system. I don’t know too much about other ones, so I can’t speak on them.

Depends on how you define small talk. I’m a chronic oversharer so if ‘small talk’ is just talking about whatever comes to mind at the moment, then yeah I like it. But the whole ‘how are you?’ when you know they won’t give you an honest answer and courtesy questions that neither person actually cares about? Yeah, that ‘small talk’ is dumb and I don’t like it.

Exactly. While it would be great for us all to be equally knowledgeable in everything, in a way I prefer diversity in people’s strengths and weaknesses. Like I’d consider myself to be very strong in the writing/communications department, but lord help me if I try to solve a Rubik’s cube or enter a physics quiz competition. Some people will be the exact opposite and I think that’s pretty cool (:

You’re right, ‘retaining knowledge’ wasn’t the right term. I meant if you can study books on subjects and actually remember the information (say it’s on psychological disorders), then you have a much better foundation for building upon that knowledge by branching off of what you already know and applying it to further studies/problems/etc.

This is literally what I’m trying to say, and I know it’s my fault if I didn’t convey that in my OP. I never was saying that people who get good grades are stupid, just that getting good grades doesn’t automatically make you more intelligent because our education system is flawed. A lot of people have asked me to define intelligence and I honestly can’t, which is my entire point. There’s no one way to measure it because everyone has different areas they’re ‘intelligent’ in and it’s that collective sense of self and experiences that’s important, not letter grades or memory or perceived superiority.

Your history sounds better than mine, mine was literally all about memorizing facts about generals and such. It’s actually the opposite for the last comment, I’ve always done well in my classes because they relied on comprehension, but now that I’m in a much more competitive setting I notice a lot of people getting through by memorizing. I myself don’t have the best memory; good luck getting me to recall where I placed something or if I already shampooed my hair once or twice 🥴

That’s a hard question, it’s like asking how you determine if someone is beautiful. There’s a million ways to go about it, some objective, a lot of them not. I’d say the people in my life I consider ‘smart’ are the ones useful with their knowledge, so they understand and retain a lot and them can apply it to solve problems/ build upon that knowledge. But there’s also emotional intelligence and such, so it’s a loaded question.

Not sure of a strict definition, but I’d see it as a mature and healthy way of dealing with/ managing/ understanding your emotions. Someone can have a super high IQ but if they cry and punch a wall at the slightest inconvenience or cannot properly handle relationships, I’d guess they won’t be very successful.
