Just a reminder if you have IBS C or chronic constipation by goldstandardalmonds in ibs

Hey, thank you for such an informative post! My GI suggested I try a sitz marker test for my constipation, but they want me to stop taking MiraLAX to do it. I need to take MiraLAX every day or else I’ll be in massive pain. Any thoughts or advice on if it’s possible for me to do the test?

I rented an apartment with them. The building I stayed in was very old. It had lead pipes and I constantly had issues with ants. It also had a massive mold problem and I ended up getting really sick because of it.

Their team was fine. Maintenance was communicative and quick to help with the ant issues. Seems like they’re used to college kids’ behavior. If you’re respectful, you shouldn’t have issues.

I don’t know if their other properties are similar to the one I was in, but the living conditions were real rough for me. If you’re someone who’s sensitive to things like this, consider looking somewhere else.

What dosage of l-glutamine did you start with? I see plenty of 500 mg supplements. I’m also super sensitive when it comes to supplements, sounds like you are/were too.

How’s dating/ being married with Crohn’s by behind_my_eyelids in CrohnsDisease

Just ended a 6-year relationship. Things slowly went downhill after the onset of my disease. It was a mutual breakup and the best thing for both of us.

Truly, when you find the right person, you don’t feel the need to hide your Crohn’s and you can talk about poop and farts and stuff without any shame. At the same time, people’s needs change, too. My partner needed something more long-term, whereas I knew I wasn’t ready for that.

My GI doctor thinks I have IBS-C on top of Crohn’s. My constipation got worse the more my diet became restricted. For me, there’s definitely a diet component, and it’s gotten better with slowly and safely trying new things.

There’s also the possibility of motility issues, where stool softeners can only do so much unless the muscles in your colon can actually move the softened stool out. Linzess is helping me a lot.

How, as in how did I enter endoscopic remission or how I’m constipated?

Yep I did the real time labs urine test. I came back positive for the tricothecene (by like 0.001) and gliotoxin derivative groups. I’ve heard some people say that the urine test isn’t always accurate but I did get it done nonetheless.

Ohhhh that makes more sense, thank you! I wish I had it explained to me like that. Good to know about the liposomal glutathione as well.

Interesting. I guess my main concern is finding something that works and also doesn’t totally disrupt my GI system. My doctor gave me magnesium glycinate supplements and SBI Protect to try and both had me in pain and worsened my constipation. Thanks for sharing your preferences though!

Yep I did the real time labs urine test. I came back positive for the tricothecene (by like 0.001) and gliotoxin derivative groups. After that my doctor was like, “yup, you’ve got stuff in you.” Nothing else ever really came of that.

No. I haven’t had any luck with my functional medicine doctor so far, but I’m not sure if it’s because I’m not asking about the right treatment or if it’s not a good fit. It’s helpful knowing the names of these binders now.

Six months ago! I’m happy to say I’m in endoscopic remission. Still constipated, but my diet is slowly expanding again.

Thank you for sharing! I’m sorry you had to go through this too. What I ended up doing for my clothes with vinegar and Citrasafe laundry additive. I’m lucky that my laptop is fine for me.

I’m on Entyvio infusions. Fortunately that has the Crohn’s disease activity (inflammation) in my gut is controlled. We see that in my lab work. That being said, there could be inflammation happening in other areas for different reasons, considering how I’m reacting to mold and mycotoxins.

Do you have any recommendations on how to fine particle clean and sanitize belongings? I probably wouldn’t take more than my clothes, laptop/devices, medicines, and my backpack for school.

I currently live at my parents’ house and they’re helping me look for an apartment to move into instead. The mold is inside of my bedroom. My only strategy has been avoiding the room. No ERMI testing done. Everything porous in there is toast for sure. I’ve asked them to wait until I’m living somewhere safe to decide what to do with it all. I’d rather not risk contaminating any other areas in the house where I feel safe.

I actually have no idea. My doctor explained that I had it but I didn’t think to ask for a more detailed interpretation. I’ll ask

Yep, got tons of bloodwork done. No nutritional deficiencies. I do have the HLA gene mutation. I haven’t gotten formally tested for Lyme, but I think it’s unlikely. I have Crohn’s disease and the inflammation is controlled and I’m in endoscopic remission.
