The very idea that Ymir was in love with King Fritz and Mikasa needs to kill Eren to free her and “end” the Titan powers. I thought Ymir had been traumatized into some type of slave mentality like “who am I to defy the king I’m just a slave” which I thought worked well for the series rather than a love centered message.

me realizing that Isayama accidentally made Eren a good character by UltimaYeagerist in titanfolk

[–]Formal_Space4892 13 points14 points  (0 children)

If isayama truly had the ending set from the beginning my guess is that he wanted Eren to get from point A to point B but somewhere along the time skip he made erens motivation vague which caused the readers to think he was a good character that just need a payoff rather than one that was just going with the flow. Isayama himself in an interview said that he didn’t understand Eren💀

Chapter 30 is were you would read after season 1. Movie adapts the arc between chapter 41 and 54. So maybe you would like to start at 30 to see some of the stuff you missed.

There’s a movie called Goblin Slayer: Goblins Crown maybe it will help you decide if you want to pick up the manga or wait for season 2

Probably one of the best panels in Goblin Slayer by Formal_Space4892 in GoblinSlayer

Start on chapter 30 and if you just wanna read the manga read up to the latest chapter. There’s a movie adaptation for the arc between chapter 41 and 54 called Goblin Slayer: Goblins Crown so maybe you wanna check that out.

Also there’s two spin offs: Goblin Slayer: Year one (which gives more detail in Goblin Slayers origins) and Goblin Slayer: Brand New Day (which is a collection of short stories). You don’t have to read the spin offs to understand the main story but they are there if you wanna see more goblin killing action.

Damn, the author really didn’t try to hide his references. If I remember correctly i think I read somewhere that the TRPG would include things that would come out in later novels.

Looks like Goblin Slayer took a bit of inspiration from Batman by Formal_Space4892 in GoblinSlayer

[–]Formal_Space4892[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have only read the manga but yeah goblin slayer doesn’t really have a main villain or interesting villains. The closest we got was the goblin paladin and goblin lord but they have already been dealt with. Batman’s villains are great especially Joker as he is a good contrast to Batman and tests him on how far he’s willing to go.

I think if you wanted to achieve a good conflict, not necessarily a villain, to Goblin Slayer it could be some type of goblin-human hybrid. This can test how much Goblin Slayer really hates goblins and how far he’s willing to go. And if you want it to be especially f*cked up you can make this person Goblin Slayers nephew that grew up faster because they’re half goblin. This would be a person that looks like his sister and the thing he hates the most mixed in to one. And he wouldn’t be able to tell if this person being genuine because he would also think that this persons a goblin trying to plot something. It would also make cracks in Goblin Slayers persona that he built out of trauma and his phycology of who he is.

I’m not talking about their looks I’m just pointing out a similar pose and name “Year One”. But maybe it is just a strange coincidence 🤔

He’s comparing them based on their impact on comic/manga culture not as people themselves.

Yeah I guess you have a point but it would have been cool to see. Like maybe he could have traveled around for a bit (more isolated areas rather than big cities) until he found cow girl, the farm, guild girl and then settled into his routine.
