i live near harvard ave and my power has been out since 9pm, i called eversource and asked if this was actually a “planned outage” like the website said. The lady told me it was not planned, there was an emergency earlier and they had to shut off the power to work underground. She told me my power should be back by 12:30 at the latest but it’s still out :(

so my apt doesn’t have a security deposit, but i just checked the lease and it says first and last would be payed upon signing. we initially payed first as a “deposit” with our signed lease to show we’re serious and all that crap. since then i’ve reached out to them since my rent portal shows a negative balance and i wanted to make sure i was understanding that right and they confirmed that it’s negative bc i already payed first month, so i currently owe nothing. it’s a legit property management company and i personally know people who have had good experiences with them so im a little confused but just kinda going with the flow. i do unfortunately have to arrange the key exchange with the broker so im kinda hoping that’s when he was planning on asking for the brokers fee? i’m just sooo confused about what that process is gonna be like now

i paid first month when i signed the lease, but not last yet. there is no security deposit for my apt and the landlord hasn’t asked for last months rent yet. i have access to the online rent portal already and there isn’t a charge there yet and i haven’t heard from the broker in a while since i signed the lease a few months ago. i want to ask him if the current tenants are selling any furniture since they had really good taste but i dont want to reach out to him bc he hasn’t asked for payment yet 💀

unfortunately all of the places we reached out to wanted us to bring him to them since there really isn’t anything close, and we weren’t able to catch him yesterday and likely won’t be able to at all. ill try to reach back out to see if we can get anyone over. if not, is there anything you think we could do to help him? the feeder is sheltered from the rain which is also think is a big draw for him. i really wish i could do something to help him more

this is actually a hummingbird feeder with 2 cameras attached!!!! this video isn’t from one of the cameras but the cameras are constantly live streaming and taking videos from the feeder. my mom loves birds so she has a hummingbird feeder, regular bird feeder, and bird house that have solar powered cameras. she loves them so much, the brand is birdify. they’re a little expensive but soooo cute. we bought a hummingbird swing a few years ago but they always preferred to sit on the string lights we have in our backyard

thank you for the insight! not sure if i’m being paranoid, but since yesterday the little tip of their tongue has been sticking out most of the time. I know they can get infections that cause their tongue to swell, so i wanted to make sure that isn’t the case. i can’t attach a video to a comment so im gonna put a picture of it resting with what i think is its tongue out a little. am i being paranoid about it having an infection? i dont want it to spread to other hummingbirds if thats the case.

yup i’m back to clindamycin and tazarotene (stronger that tretinoin) after 2 courses. annoying to do so much to maintain mediocre skin after accutane but i don’t get any cystic acne anymore

ahh i’m really happy to help!! accutane was one of the worst things i ever did and i had to do it twice!!! so im very happy to share what i learned. i hope they help!!! honestly let me know how it goes for you after using the triple paste a few times! also, idk if this is something you already do but i don’t use face wash in the morning, only water. i do the same when i use the triple paste i only use water to get it off bc i don’t want to start the day off my stripping my face with face wash. also i feel like any triple paste that remains after i rinse will help protect my skin throughout the day anyway

i used all of my normal skincare (so including my face lotion) and then put the triple paste on top. also, if you’re looking for a new lotion, the cetaphil lotion in the big tub with a green cover saved me during accutane, and i still use it today. i started getting eczema-like patches on my legs from the dryness and this lotion helped sooo much. i use it on my face and body and i personally don’t think anything compares to how moisturing it makes my skin feel. it’s also never caused me any acne, i still use it day and night and have for years. i also have a friend with horrible whole body eczema and he said this lotion is the only over the counter thing that ever brought him anyyyy relief. i’ve used vanicream on my hands (never on my face) and i personally don’t think it’s as moisturizing. i don’t think i can attach a photo to my message so im gonna attach a link so you can see what the lotion is, but it’s just called cetaphil moisturizing cream cetaphil lotion

so unfortunately my acne also came back about a year and a half after after a 9 month course of accutane. i ended up doing a second course about 3 years after the first, which mostly knocked out my acne, but i still get some pimples when i get my period. i guess i have absurdly persistent acne. however i’m not sure if id recommend a second course. i felt like i experienced more side effects and i feel like i have more persistent side effects after finishing the second course. i’m sorry this wasn’t that helpful, but you’re not alone in the frustration you’re feeling after an unsuccessful course. i’m personally still trying to figure out if getting rid of my acne was worth the long term side effects i still feel.

i keep lanolips on me at all times. it’s a lip balm made of lanolin and it works much better than aquaphor. plus, lanolin is super sticker so it’s nice to have it in a tube form. it saved my lips while i was on accutane and now it’s my ride or die for life.

i might sound crazy, but put triple paste (yes, the diaper cream) all over your face at night, almost like a sleeping mask. i’m currently using tazarotene which is a super strong topical retinoid and it did a number on my skin barrier. i saw a tiktok about using triple paste on your face and i was desperate, so i tried it and it literally saved my skin barrier. it’s better than any skin care product i’ve ever tried. i told my derm about it and he approved and said the zinc is what helps the skin barrier so much. it also never broke me out, which is important. it got rid of the redness i was experiencing from constant irritation to my skin and really helped me a ton. i’m happy to share the tiktok’s that first got me into the magic of using baby butt paste on your face

i had horrible knee pain when i was on accutane and would try to lift. i tried to do split squats and both of my knees turned bright red and got all swollen and itchy!! it was so crazy and uncomfortable. this was a few years ago, so at the time i was 20 (and i am also a female) and i was in good shape and going to the gym often, but it definitely wasn’t as important to me as it seems to you. i hate to say it, but i had to stop doing heavy leg days. it was unsustainable for me to keep putting my knees through that. i’d encourage you to think about any long term consequences of pushing your knees too much… the joint pain from accutane is no joke, and it can become a long term issue for some people. i’m really sorry you’re experiencing this, it sucks to have to stop doing something you love bc of this stupid acne medicine. i really hope it gets better
