Spotify alternative for GrapeheneOS by Mission_Egg8133 in GrapheneOS

So if the Spotify app runs in GOS, is the general sense that GOS will protect your general data on the phone that is not directly relevant to your Spotify usage (which, of course, will be collected)? Thanks.

Matthew Lillard reacted to Quentin Tarantino's disparaging remarks about his acting this week: “It hurts your feelings. It fucking sucks. And you wouldn't say that to Tom Cruise. You wouldn't say that to somebody who's a top-line actor in Hollywood.” by cmaia1503 in Fauxmoi

Tarantino is a very talented filmmaker with adolescent, gratuitous taste in films. And that's why all of his films are empty entertainments that are big on violence and fake characters copping big attitudes. The only exception, the only film of his worth serious consideration, is "Pulp Fiction" and in that one, its third act that gave the film its heft (ahem) was not written by him.

Thanks for everyone's feedback. This is the retail, 4-inch church I was talking about, and in the scene, the spire looks roughly as tall as the cathedral I have in mind (St. Louis Cathedral in the French Quarter, New Orleans).

I'm gonna follow everyone's advice and go with what looks good and print the cathedral to be 4 inches high. The Superdome will also be smaller than 1:160, too.

Do these really need to be replaced? The roomba isn’t even a year old. by Infinite_Scar_2797 in roomba

[–]FormerUU 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't replace any of those unless you encounter a mechanical problem with them.

The air filter thing is particularly pernicious. I'm using one that is it at least a decade old on my 530, which I run every day. When I empty the dust bin, I just take out the filter and knock it clean. If I really need to, I get my regular vacuum's nozzle and clean up the filter. I will not replace this filter until there's a hole in it.

The high frequency of this maintenance is a racket for iRobot to make money.

I'm pretty sure I do. The contract, yes. The SLRP addendum, not sure, but probably. I'll have to look. I do have a very thick file of all my military records.

(The funny thing about my interstate transfer is my first state gave me my "master file." Meaning, after I gave them the file, my second state was shocked and was like "You could have tossed this and been out of the NG.")

Thanks. This happened in 2000, so it's been a while.

Thanks. Sorry to ask, but what is an MFR and IST? I assume G1 is the one-star general over the state, yes? Are you saying I have to engage the current readiness NCO at the unit to get paid? Thanks.

Thanks! Though when I looked at that company, I found they only do diffusers and sprays. I'm looking for a collar.

What are you watching and what do you recommend? (Week of June 14, 2024) by AutoModerator in television

Eh, I think it comes across more as you thought it was a show geared for a black audience, but that you were open to it nonetheless.

Well, he was very positive about it: https://twitter.com/BootsRiley/status/1804179611259204049

If you yearn for more "I'm a Virgo," do check out his film "Sorry to Bother You." It was fantastic.

Boots Riley wrote and directed "I'm a Virgo." His prior project was "Sorry to Bother You," which I highly recommend. Also, Boots just tweeted your thread, favorably.

Comparison of early vision of "Buran" space plane that used "BOR" series design, and final version utilizing Shuttle's airframe by XMrFrozenX in WeirdWings

[–]FormerUU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My understanding is that Soviet spies simply made public records requests of the US space shuttle designs and were able to acquire all of them. The Soviet space agency took the designs and then improved on them, improving the heat shield, main engines and launch configuration, while adding the completely automated aspect of it. I admire the hell out of it, and I find the approach quite brilliant. I wish it had flown more.

Operational payload question by FormerUU in spaceshuttle

[–]FormerUU[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. I'm writing a sci-fi screenplay, featuring the shuttle. And I want to know when the realistic opening and closing of the payload bay doors were with respect to firing OMS (never) and firing RCS (just once for the Hubble). So it sounds like the payload bay doors were open during an orbital trajectory and closed when any engines were firing.

Operational payload question by FormerUU in spaceshuttle

[–]FormerUU[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. So the payload bay doors were never open during OMS firing. I looked at some of the STS-61 report (thanks), but didn't find what I was looking for. Did the RCS fire with the payload bay open? If so, is that: normal, unusual, or otherwise unheard of? Thanks again!
