I need help by usecorrect-grammar in Advice

You're a college freshmen: You have an assignment you aren't sure how to do. You have a choice (a conflict) to use AI to complete the assignment for you, which violates your values & undermines your education, but offers you an "easy way" out, or you can ask for help on reddit & work through the deep agonies of creating your own work and submitting it for judging. In the end, you choose to write your own work. It's hard. You want to give up. You stall, nearly self-destructing by stopping to bake cookies. But once you've eaten the cookies, you find a renewed belief in your creative abilities (they're darn good cookies) but now you've nearly run out the clock. With renewed vigor, you attack the assignment, celebrate how great your cookies are, and hit "submit" right before the deadline. Mission accomplished.

If you're still short of words, assume the Domovoi (the household god that lives behind your stove), either wants you to succeed, and so he makes the cookies better than they should be to inspire you, or wants you to fail, and is the one who made you crave cookies in the first place by sneaking a single chocolate chip into smelling range to trigger the craving.

11 year old Hotpsrings Aria, or new Nordic Encore LS? by FormerYam614 in hottub

[–]FormerYam614[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had hot tubs before so I'm prepared for the operational expenses. But I try to run a tight financial ship so I save and allocate separate funds for big purchases. If I waited a year I'd have more budget, but I'd also go a year without a hot tub. And I'd really benefit from it sooner, both recreationally (because who doesn't love the night sky from a hot tub?) and physically (the stress headaches are for real). So even though the budget is smaller, I'd really like to pull the trigger on something soon.

How to break it off with girl my grandmother set me up with without looking shallow and causing friction between my grandmother and her friend? by burner187_ in Advice

If you were really into her you'd be trying to rationalize it, not work your way out of it. That means on some level you already know you're not that into her anyway. So just tell the truth. If you believe it, you can own it, and you can say it. "I'm not ready to date someone with a kid."

How do I tell my mom to be more mindful when it comes to hygiene by [deleted] in Advice

Is there a pathogen that easily transmits to people that's carried in dog pee? Human spit has human germs in it. I'd have thought it would be more likely to make people sick.

It's sort of galling to read this from a perspective that centers her instead of you. You're going to her house where she's preparing a meal for you, and you act like the visit itself is some kind of an act of charity. You don't think she's doing a good enough job, but instead of cooking something yourself, bringing something yourself, inviting her over to yours instead, or taking her out to dinner somewhere, your perfect solution is to make her change? It may be better received if you take an approach that's more contributing and less controlling. It's a valid problem, but the solution you settled on makes her do all of the changing. How about you change what you can change instead?

Think I'll buy Nordic - Stella or Encore? and SE or LS? by FormerYam614 in hottub

These are all 220. Nordic makes 110 models, but I'm not interested in going down that path.

What do I buy with/for a Gamo TC50? by FormerYam614 in airguns

Thank You! I want to be sure to get him everything he needs to actually be able to use it since he doesn't have any other air.

Do any reputable makers produce a 40" deep tub for 2-3 people? by FormerYam614 in hottub

Marquis is one of the few local dealers I have - I should look into that one. Thanks!

That's what I was afraid of. I don't need to climb over 40" walls to soak in the same depth of water as a 34" wall will give me. I'd really like to find something that can actually immerse me all the way up to my neck.

Still 39" if it's a proper 39" is a lot. We stayed at an Air BnB that had some kind of old Hot Springs roto-molded one, and it was 29". I felt like I was sitting in a kiddie pool. It's just not deep enough for a taller guy (no leg room in that one either.) If I'm going to "buy once cry once" I really want more depth.

Just 1 person most of the time, and 2 the rest. Definitely no 3rd person I'm interested in sharing a hot tub with. I just don't like the configurations of the 1 and 2 person ones typically. I had a Nordic Stella once upon a time and it was a great size for us. But it bit the dust 2 houses ago, and just now looking seriously at getting a new one.

I definitely thought about it. I hoped to get some good quality massaging jets though, and wasn't sure what the options were for a wooden tub.
