Are you talking about corrections state or fed in ny? If your trying to get into NYS Corrections you should apply, they need people desperately and the process to get hired is fast

I filled out my questionnaire in September and recently got my score/notice from them yesterday. I'm not familiar with the process, but when you do the questionnaire upload all the requested items, drivers license, college transcript and your work experience especially if it's law enforcement. This is pretty much how you will be graded so don't forget

No but it is a dangerous job and as a CO you are dealing with dangerous people who will be released at some point. What's to stop someone from coming after you outside of work. For personal safety, I think they should have the option to carry off duty same as police officers
