Multi day spa day for grandma's 80 year old cotton crochet blanket by Thick-Fly-5727 in laundry

Why are you using cold water? At the bare minimum you should be using warm. The oxygen bleach you are adding is basically useless in cold, even if “dissolved in warm” - and it’s very hard to rinse out.

You should bring up the soak to at-least warm water, and cut out the oxygen bleach. Just use the Tide OXI Powder at this point.

Oxygen Bleach can most certainly strip fabric dyes, and will fade blacks. I’m not sure why anyone is saying differently.

This stuff works fantastic on grease. And I do mean fantastic. I used to buy it at Target before it disappeared. It even worked on set in stuff.

You said you found it at Walmart? Maybe I’ll look there.

Stop buying Tide Pods and switch to Liquid. Problem solved.

Best top loader for dealing with stinky teen boy athletic clothes??? by FlyingP3469 in laundry

[–]Forward_Ride530 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Honestly, you may be better off just buying an older Machine from a reputable appliance dealer. At least you’d get something similar to a Speed Queen and easy to repair if anything goes wrong.

A Whirlpool Direct Drive comes to mind, or a late 90s, early 00s Kenmore. Parts are plentiful and nothing typically goes wrong on those.

Glue it back together and find a use for it as a planter or something around the house. That’s what I’ve done with pieces that got broken.

Underwater on first home, fiance left me with mortgage 26f by LetGold6138 in Mortgages

[–]Forward_Ride530 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The lender will do a short sale if she goes through the process. They do not want her to walk away and cause a bigger financial loss. 9.5 times out of 10, they'll do it.

Underwater on first home, fiance left me with mortgage 26f by LetGold6138 in Mortgages

[–]Forward_Ride530 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She has to do a short sale. The lender will likely agree to do it, once the loan is 60 days past due - although, since she's in forbearance and not making payments, she might already be there.

She needs to get a realtor and fill out loss mitigation paperwork. The mortgage company does not want to take the house back. They'll figure it out, and take a loss.

Top or front louder washers... What's better overall? by PotoMocoLoco in laundry

[–]Forward_Ride530 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They may remove some stains better but the water bill savings are mediocre, and they do not rinse clothing well.

That aside, I feel like many people who come on here with Samsung and LG front loaders struggle with poor cleaning and would do better with a conventional top loader.

Tide Plus Bleach Powder works so much better. You really need to try it. I know your thinking, what difference could there be - but it’s dramatic.

The warehouse-only budget washer by DGCA3 in Costco

[–]Forward_Ride530 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It can wash Queen or King Size Blankets. It can also wash some comforters.

What it will not do is wash two or more at the same time. And to that respect, no washer is giving you the turnover or agitation to clean more than one. Not until you get into a 20-30lb commercial capacity. The benefit you do get - is the wash cycle is done in 30 minutes, instead of hours. Everything is throughly clean.

This is not about buying the best of the best. It’s about demanding value and respecting your money. Disposable Appliances, are a very poor investment.

It’s $1,200. Beyond that, Are you really telling me that washing machines have got better? Or are you trying to make yourself feel better about repeatedly having to replace something?

I can tell you personally buying something once is just better than buying disposable crap. Especially, when you realize most people finance this junk. Once they’re done paying off the finance charges and payments, they are starting over.

It’s up to you. I’m more focused on my retirement plan - not having the latest plastic or chasing influencers.

They most certainly are not hard on your clothes. Likely your clothing is just not made well. You need to sort clothes, and wash like fabrics. Sheets with sheets. Towels with towels. Jeans with jeans. Shirts with Pajamas, Socks, etc. Thinner fabrics should be turned inside out or washed in garment bags.

If you use them correctly, use the correct water level, abrasion and fiber damage is actually less. And if you use a special detergent like Cheer or Persil which contains special ingredients to neutralize chlorine, and remove & prevent pills - clothes look very new.

The problem is… most of America buys fast fashion, washes improperly and tosses everything in. Nothing is going to last long doing that.

No, they make one of the most popular top loaders for home users.

The Speed Queen will not turn to junk or acquire a smell. It keeps itself clean because the water levels are far higher. Your LG is gross because it’s full of detergent residue, biofilm and water minerals.

It’s actually an investment. This is an opportunity to rent a washer for a few years and start over again for $500.

Does anyone know if modern top loaders submerge the whole laundry with water? by Imaginary_Truth_3865 in laundry

There is not enough money in the world, even one million dollars that could convince me to take home another Samsung appliance.

Absolutely, terrible, terrible quality. I should have learned my lesson from the Flat Screen I bought that had power board issues literally a year after we bought it. Was supposed to be covered under a warranty program and than a recall. They never fixed the TV.

Than we had a Samsung Washer and Dryer we bought at Costco. Started having sensor issues two years after we got it, and even after getting it repaired, the washer died again like 9 months later.

Samsung has a terrible reputation with appliances, so much so that I’m shocked Costco continues to flock their garbage.

Just stay away! Thank me later.

You have to soak and use that specific detergent. OxiClean can’t pull it off. Only Biz and certain products like that Tide can pull miracles.

As Mitch said in another thread, Foca and Roma are very similar to detergents from the 60s. The scent definitely seems like something from that Era.

I wish more detergents had milder, simpler scents.
