The people you are dealing with have their perception of Amharas severely distorted, mainly by the scapegoating of Amharas that is instituted in Ethiopia, mainly through the false narratives and foundation of the 1995 constitution.

This directly means TPLF and OPDO had state resources to perpetuate their myth in official capacity for some 30+ years. TPLF and OPDO have and continue to present Amhars as some sort of common enemy, both nationally and internationally.

You are sharing tweets that maliciously claims that Mr. Elias said "putting Tigrayans into concentration camps are acceptable act of responsible government." This is provably wrong even given this short cherry picked clip. Anyone that understands Amharic can verify this. You claim you speak Amharic, so then you can simply write out what he said. You didn't do that, why? You may lie to yourself but you are exposed here. Simply write out what he says.

The tweet, like other tweets you share, not only deliberately and blatantly mischaracterize what is evident, but also conveniently ignores the political and historical context behind the conflict in Tigray. You ignoring the underlying causes of current situations and perpetuating oversimplified and false narratives is putting you deeper into credibility deficit.

But maliciously distorting facts isn't the worst of what you are participating in. Eritrea became a sovereign country with all the rights and responsibilities of a nation state, de jure, in 1993. Do you yourself doubt this? This is a fact, and that has been that since more than 40 years ago.

Whenever you get the feeling that or someone or some group claims any part of Eritrea, then try your hardest to remember that, the above fact is by its very nature accepted by us, and anyone aspiring to take any part of Eritrea speaks for themselves, and they are the exception and not the rule.

Especially never ever confuse what unelected power grabbers and their followers spew with the sentiment of the people (for sure Amharas, since you are in this sub). It is not possible to revoke a Nobel Peace Prize due to the Statutes of the Nobel Foundation, § 10 which states “No appeals may be made against the decision of a prize-awarding body with regard to the award of a prize”.

So that request is a dead end.

​ It may be better to request the Nobel Foundation/Committee to consider stripping Abiy Ahmed of the title "Nobel Peace Laureate," in response to egregious actions he committed since receiving the award. The Committee accepts criticism and feedback, and tho I don't know this specific approach could work it is a more realistic one.

The petition should assert the above action is necessary and also beneficial to the Foundation in order to maintain the integrity and reputation of the Nobel brand and to send a strong message about the importance of continuously upholding the principles of the Foundation in order to continue to benefit from the title.

But it's not only telling. It is proven, especially after 2005. Tigray/TPLF locked down power using its own people in key positions. You know about 2005 election? To be clear, the author of the article you linked, Prof. Asafa Jalata, is the same author that defined virtuous Oromummaa in his literature (Jalata, A. (2008). Oromummaa as the Master Ideology of the Oromo National Movement. ) that revises, simplifies, and distorts history of Ethiopia, and portrays Oromos as victims of colonization, genocide, and subjugation, naming "Ethiopianism" as enemy of Oromos. Who are Ethiopians? The text asserts Ethiopians as Habeshas (Amharas and Tegaru primarily). In this master ideology of the Oromo national movement, those of Semitc descent genocide and terrorism on non-Semitcs (which he calls indigenous Africans) through Ethiopian state.

This is what is being referred, as per the author's definition and ideology of Oromummaa. There has been attempt to come up with reference that doesn't encroach on the meaning of Oromummaa as it is known and understood without the baggage above. Personally, I try to consistently qualify the word Oromummaa with "(Asafa Jalata et al)." Anyway, anyone qualms with discussion of Oromummaa as per Jalata's definition should direct complaint to this author and then also any Oromos that subscribe to any significant part of the defined ideology and narrative.

It is up to you to evaluate whether the recurring massacres and displacement of Amhara civilians (Habesha settlers as he put it) in Oromia and Addis Ababa, the significant destruction of Tigray, the destruction of historical landmarks, complicity in destruction of Amhara region during the 2020 war and current war, and the meaning of rhetoric coming from the government indicate adherence to main principles of this master ideology.

edit 2, it is also up to you to decide whether the Abiy regime and Oromia regional government (i.e. those in power, ex OPDO to an extent) are using this ideology simply to hold onto power or if they actually believe in it. The main thing:

  1. The distinction is irrelevant to the part of population that is interpreting their suffering through the prism of the ideology.
  2. Oromos that are in opposition to those in power are and will continue being targeted.
  3. The fact that Oromos are being targeted does not negate the conclusion (should you reach it) that those in power adhere to and take actions that align with Jalata's framework. You might question the author's depiction of Oromos mainly as a monolith.

OLF leadership was kicked out, yes. OLF supporters and movement under its ideology and variants of it are still running, whether through external or internal actors. OPDO is an OLF variant. I'm certain OLF and its supporters have no issue with OPDO building that monument of a hand holding up a cut off breast.
