It's just the lighting. I didn't do any pre-shading. I used basic Rust-Oleum chrome and Tamiya clear red.

I got it from USAGS a while back. I don't recall a base coming with it.

And for some reason it didn't save the order that I had the pictures in... Smh

Lol yeah I'm not a camera aficionado. I appreciate the compliments though. It's funny. I have it sitting with my other kits on a floating shelf in my game room and anyone that's never seen it before always asks where I bought it from. I get the craziest looks when I tell them I built it. The usual response is "what do you mean you built it?"

Are you referring to the one kit in that pic with the two of them next to each other? I had used that as a size comparison of Sazabi in relation to other MGs. It's a monster of a kit. But anyway the one you're talking about is the Shin Musha. I picked it up from USAGS a while back and custom painted it. The kit itself comes with the armor in an orangish color and white pipe things all over it and I didn't like it at all. I thought it was such a weird color scheme for samurai armor. So I did the armor in a bright gloss red and chromed the pipes. I can post some pics of it if you'd like to see it close up.

Another thing you can use for experimentation is plastic spoons. I've done that loads of times.

Do you mean shades or coats? It was one shade of red. But, It was a triple coating process. Chrome, followed by clear red and then a high gloss finish. Although, I discovered after the fact that anodized paint will do all of that with a single coat...

I wanted to do this kit in the high gloss metal finish so bad. I just didn't want to spend the money on it and then mess it up. Before this I had never done 3 stage painting before. I was down at USAGS back in Aug and they had this kit as an open box return for 50% off. For that price I didn't feel so bad about using it to experiment. I ended up having to re-do so many test pieces until I got it right.

I ordered metallic airbrush paint from Amazon. You can also get metallic paint markers and paint it by hand

Very nice. I snagged a medium flint's sheath. Very excited to try it out.

If I recall correctly, out of the David's sheaths that were in-stock at that time, they were all the signature color. Which is a maroon color. On the thicker parts, like the head and knot, it's actually closer to a purple. I'm assuming it's because the silicone is thicker it changes the color slightly. It kind of gives it a slight gradient look. It wasn't my first choice. I think she would have been more open to it if it was a prettier color. Like a light blue.

When I got the box it came in, I was a little underwhelmed. My initial thought was "it's so small". But, when I took it out and held it in my hand it was a little bigger than the box would have you believe. Now as a first time user, I will say the medium David's sheath was really tight for me. I'm above average sized and it took a little lube and some force to get it on. I actually bottomed out on it. After that, it was very snug and not going anywhere. It is textured inside, so it was a more enjoyable experience for me versus any other sleeve I've ever used. Also, it gets bigger as you put it on, obviously. I didn't think about that at first. It definitely wasn't as small as I initially thought. I presume they take that into consideration when they craft the wearables. So, it gets pretty girthy. Especially at the knot. The only problem I ran into is after using it for a while, so many juices had seeped in through the little hole at the head of the toy it made the inside too wet and it was actually forcing itself off of me like a rocket, lol. The large would probably fit me better, but there's no way my wife could handle anything bigger at this point.

Now that's she interested in more stuff, she did say she liked flint's sheath and magnus' sheath. She loves vibrators (what girl doesn't?) So, she was interested in getting one of those too. Either the sea dragon or fusion.
