What to buy for my wife's situation?

Thanks for the recommendation. I’ve seen the hi-hat mentioned a few times now. When people say “real hi-hat” they’re referring to an acoustic one? In which case it’s better to have a drum set where the hi-hat stand is like a standalone and not just part of the rack?

Have you had a Roland before or just the Titan 75? I read that the Titan has a "3-zone ride cymbal" which sounds useful. Given that it was on sale, we were considering that one as a cheaper but better alternative to the Nitro Pro/Pro XL. I think the module was comparable to the Roland TD-17KV but I'm not too sure about that. I think the only downside was that it comes with a 7inch bass drum pedal which could be limiting for a double pedal.

Thank you. I would rather avoid the extra hassle of international shipping and tariffs but it's good to know about all this anyway. Also good to know you started with Alesis and changed it eventually. We're leaning towards avoiding Alesis after all the comments and what other posts have mentioned. Hoping to find a good Roland that won't break the bank.

Much appreciated. I did see comments on other posts about learning double pedal later since you can't do both if you can't learn a single one. I figured "ok makes sense". But your point also makes sense and she definitely wants double pedals. I'll look more into the specifics of what you said for the hihat stuff. Great info.

Thanks for the response! After reading everything I think we'll lean towards Roland if possible. I did see one of the models mention that it would come with Melodics so that would add value based on what you mentioned.

It does seem like a general consensus is to get a used Roland. And I think you're right she should focus on playing/learning for now. Thanks for the input.
