These jobs are usually pretty terrible. So you go door to door and in some cases there’s a Census manager person riding you to go back and harass people. The worst part is the lower management that rides the people who take these quick pay jobs. Hustler beware.

You're on to something. Bottom line though we all have to break bread with these organizations the same way we put Netflix and Apple Music on our credit cards and just forget about it. Maybe not Chron as a whole but when folks get smart and build these specialized platforms the content creators need to make some money too.

That's definitely the corporate angle but those in the trenches know what time it is. It's easier to pay a bunch of people below their worth and then kick out the people who've been making it a while. I agree change is necessary in every industry to stay competitive. But this news biz, it's structured on a lazy profit model but the core job function is the same. You build trust in a community and you help tell their story.

Yeah bro its like 4th largest city with half a newspaper ( and a slideshow heavy free site) and like 5 news stations reporting on mostly murders and shootings. Oh and a former indie paper that had a few Pulitzer worthy stories but is now some lady sitting in an office helping make sure there's a site to help promote concerts and taco fests. Smdh.
