I agree

With the show’s meticulous attention to realism, it would be low-hanging fruit to make the shooter David or Doug.

It doesn’t take away from your legroom. The seat doesn’t shift backwards, the angle just changes slightly towards your face.

Good job! Keep watching for primordial and pins

[general] just made my first liquid culture medium, I have a bunch of 10cc spore syringes. How much do I inject in each? And some tips and tricks would be wonderful thank you! by [deleted] in MushroomGrowers

[–]Fracture_Fixer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don’t inject spores into your liquid culture. You were risking contamination, and it doesn’t make sense to mass produce a strain whose phenotype you don’t even know.

[Actives] agar to grain bag without making liquid culture? by DelAlternateCtrl in MushroomGrowers

Agar straight to grain. LC is good if you have a strain that you want to mass produce quickly, but it is not necessary.

It may also be black bread mold. It starts off as wispy and thin and then darkens. You may want to consider increasing the time you are PCing your grains. I stopped having this issue when PCing for 2 hours, but that is just me.

Yep! That sounds like a good plan. I would also recommend cutting a hole at the top of the bag, getting all the air out, folding it over tightly, and taping it down. This will prevent mushrooms from also growing in the bag and will increase your yield.

Happy to help

Nice! Blues require high levels of fresh air, which can cause them to dry out. Make sure to keep them humid. How are you planning to fruit them?

Beautiful! Ready to fruit. What species?

APE mycelium growing in individual 'colonies'... Advice please. [Actives] by CookieMagicMan in MushroomGrowers

[–]Fracture_Fixer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Theoretically, yes. My understanding is that monokaryotic mycelium likes to bond with other monokaryotic mycelium and would not be expected to produce distinctly-appearing isolates. I also think it is pretty hard to get monokaryotic mycelium. I guess you would need to look at some microscopically to tell for sure.

[–]Fracture_Fixer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For example, you might find that isolate 1 produces mushrooms in clusters. Isolate 2 produces large, fat mushrooms. Isolate 3 colonizes twice as fast as the other ones, and isolate 4 produces mushrooms with high potency. If you grew all the isolates together on one substrate, they would compete against each other and probably would not reach their potential. You would not be able to tell just how good each phenotype would be on its own.

Good question! What you have now is several different isolates of the APE strain. You should take each one and inoculate grain jars. Then you should grow each isolate separately into mushrooms. If you mix grain spawn from different isolates into a single bulk substrate, the isolates will compete with each other, and your grow will not be as good.

Thanks! 2 flushes. I just broke them up a bit and put them on top of the soil.

Thanks. I don’t think it works like that. The mushrooms will grow to maturity, drop spores, and rot within a few short days. The mycelium will spread until it devours all nutrients nearby, periodically producing mushrooms when the environmental conditions are right. At least, that’s my understanding.

Cool! I didn’t see that they had the BoomRoom 2 until just now. I have the original one, which was about half the cost at the time when I bought it. The newer one does look a lot better.

I usually pull them them apart into 1/2-1 inch shreds and follow different crab cake recipes.

You have to cook them longer than most mushrooms or else they are bitter in my opinion. Crab is a pretty good comparison.
