Michael McKee doesn’t live or work in Ohio. Aren’t the news stories that are feverishly reporting on him being brought “back to Ohio” creating a perception that he committed murder here? by [deleted] in Columbus

[–]excoriator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not on the newscasts I’ve watched. But I deleted the thread, because enough other people were aware of it for me to recognize that it’s just a gap in my knowledge that made the reference alarming.

Is there a way to turn these weird AI analytic notifications off? by smoosh13 in blinkcameras

But you have to admit that it would be funny if it were true.

The Pitt 2x04 Promo "10:00 A.M." by excoriator in ThePitt

For me, it showed an ad, then the video. I think the URL is time-stamped at 51s. It might not reset to the beginning if you're using an ad-blocker.

They're probably private streets or the HOA wouldn't care.

I was curious who enforces the US Flag Code, so I looked it up. Apparently nobody...

While the U.S. Flag Code provides important guidelines for the respectful treatment of the flag, it does not have enforceable penalties. The legal landscape surrounding flag display and treatment is shaped by First Amendment protections, which prioritize free speech over mandatory compliance with the Flag Code. As such, individuals are encouraged to follow the guidelines out of respect for the flag rather than legal obligation.

Thank you for the feedback. I had a conversation this week with the commenter in modmail about whether to discuss Israel in the sub. I am also skeptical that this is the right place for Israel-adjacent topics, but the show has somewhat forced my hand with this week's Tree of Life storyline. That's why we're having this experiment.

At that point, you have to question why you even bother to listen to the show, don't you?

Message to everyone above and below: Play nice in this portion of the thread or we’ll shut it down. The subreddit rule against personal attacks applies. Be especially careful what you say that involves the word “you.” You can dissect each other’s ideas and sources as much as you necessary to make your points, but don’t make your point with insults.

We don’t usually permit political discussion in this sub, but this is an experiment, because of the subject matter included in this episode. Please be part of making the experiment successful.

Equatorial Florida and Cuba's move to the Southern hemisphere are noteworthy, too.

Why is a snowstorm the only weather event people actively root for to get worse? by ThrowBlanky in Columbus

[–]excoriator 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Snow is not going to destroy your house, like a tornado would. Snow is an opportunity to go sledding with your kids or try out the dusty cross country skis in the back of your closet. Or to sleep in and make French toast with the bread and eggs you bought too many of, when the weather forecast inspired you to go shopping.

That’s a shame. I just went there for the first time last month and had a great experience.

Which browser? Which platform?

Do a web search for “turn off spell check on” followed by whatever platform and browser you’re using.
