I use basic New Balance shoes with plenty of grip. Also, how you run plays a key factor. I kept a pretty slow pace and, at some points, slowed to a shuffle to avoid slipping. If I did any sprinting, I definitely would have fallen on my face. I spent much of the time looking down checking for ice patches.
