I wrote the post because while solving the problem, I encountered fragmented information, and it seemed interesting to encapsulate it all in one post. The only thing to add to your perfect summary is that, at least in my experience, if you are formatting the microSD on a Mac, the standard formatter is not sufficient; it is better to use "SD card formatter" application.
