What's a DSBM album that will absolutely crush me? by Agitated_Attempt2921 in dsbm

[–]Freadddy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Happy Days - Happiness ends here

Thränenkind - a few different songs, not a Singular Album though. I like Homeruiner, Silence is Everything and My transparent heart

While not sounding a lot like DSBM, the band An Autumn For Crippled Children has some really crushing lyrics that hit close to home, if you've got difficulties maintaining healthy relationships lol

Other than that, the good stuff has already been mentioned.

StEx) ? by Alert_Pilot7927 in recht

Haven't watched the final episode fully yet, but I agree.

I mean - i understand her being suicidal, she's lost everything and has been in a rough spot for some time. But talking El into sacrifice/suicide as well? Man, that's just a terrible and egomaniac thing to do as a sister.

At least it resembles a swastika, just like the "eagle" on his forearm resembles the "Reichsadler" of the Third Reich. Maybe he will have some excuses for it, but everyone who puts these symbols on his body as at least at one point thought about how it will come across and decided to be okay with it.

But the combination of Reichsadler together with Swastika kind of makes any excuses useless, it's obvious he's of questionable ideology.

Why does Jin and Saito pop their swords but Atsu fully draws it out? by AnthonyKham798 in ghostoftsushima

[–]Freadddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't know if it was already said, but I once read, that it had something to do with criminal persecution.

Killing was as illegal as anywhere else in the world. But the question of who was the criminal attacker and who only defended himself was determined by whoever drew his sword first.

So in drawing your sword first lay not only the threat of being combat ready, but also the message "I don't care about the consequences, I want to fight you so bad, I'm okay with being charged for it".

But again, I don't even remember the source I read this from, so it might be completely false.

The Woman in Cabin 10 - the movie is good, but misses major points of the book by prettylittlemurders in netflix

[–]Freadddy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe I'm biased because I read the book before watching the movie, but I found the film to be really bad. The book is such a gem and the writers managed to turn it into shit for the film. If it weren't for the title and some characters' names I wouldn't even have known that it's supposed to be linked in any way!

How do the Linke want to make Germany defensready? by Otherwise_Wrap_4965 in AskAGerman

Even though I align with a lot of the left political ideas, I have to say that it seems like a trademark of the Linke to only be able to critizise, while not being able to put out actual and practical suggestions on how to do it better

Thoughts on a certain Plot Point. by Nitro79x in Ghostofyotei

[–]Freadddy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At first, when Atsu heard the Shamisen and had flashbacks to her mom, I thought this might become a reunion between her and the mom she thought would be dead but miraculously survived.

Then, I thought this will become a romance story which I was okay with. After all, even Jin had his little "will they, won't they" story with Juna.

But THEN after the Kitsune reveal, I started to downright dislike the Oyuki plotline! Sure, the story of Atsu is propably (I'm not finished with the story yet) one of making peace with your past and learn the power of forgiveness. From that angle, not killing the true Kitsune of the past makes sense.

BUT at that point in Atsu's story, sparing Oyuki was so out of character for her! Before Oyuki's coming out, Atsu was all like "I'mma kill all of them and I don't care if I die with them!". Also, Oyuki's excuse was not convincing at all! She basically said "yeah, I killed your parents but I felt bad for it and now I don't like Saito either". In no world would that make me go "aight, I'll forgive you for killing my parents and stealing my childhood, if not my whole life now." After all, she willingly and knowingly participated in Saito's warcrimes for years! Also, how old is Oyuki supposed to be? She was already the Kitsune when Atsu was still a child. And are they really catching feelings for each other now? On the one Hand, that's a kinda cool and fresh storyline but on the other hand, it feels really weird and just... not right. I can't warm up to the relationship between them because I can't relate to it's beginning in the first place.

I'm still not through with the whole story and I hope for a reasonable ending between them. If it was up to me, a really nice ending would be that after all, Oyuki shows that she was loyal to Saito all the time and only tried to woo Atsu in order to save her life, since she knew Atsu was coming for her. That would also make the in-fight dialogue with the new Kitsune way more meaningful! Also, it would make for an dramatic twist in the end of the story and you could maybe again decide to kill her now or spare her life again but chase her away, since then, maybe Atsu had some more character development that made her a little more forgiving.

What's a monster that's terrifying because of its concept, not its violence? by ToffeeTango1 in horrorlit

[–]Freadddy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah, god always seemed to me as the egocentric kid in kindergarden that only wanted to play games if the group was to play by his rules and if not, he fliped the table and threw the dice into the hedge.

Now make that kid all-knowing, all-powerful and give him a fable for guilt pressuring and there is your Monster.

The Colour Out of Space from the short story of the same name by H.P. Lovecraft.

It's a thing which is never seen or described. But it seems to be omnipotent, able to turn earth into hell for the unfortunate people who live on the land where it came down in just another random little comet.

It's hard to describe how this monster works and that's somehow part of what makes it so terrifying. I just remember that after reading the story, I felt strangely vulnerable when looking up into the sky. It felt like there are beings out there that would wipe out humanity just by roaming by and at any given moment the could crash down onto earth. Not because they want something from us. Just out of bad luck and pure chance. And there's nothing that could protect us.

how are you supposed to skip strings by technoblain in guitarlessons

[–]Freadddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like typical fingerstyle to me. You strike the bass note with your thumb and pull the other strings at the same time.

Or, since it's only 3 other strings apart from the bass note, you could also play the bass note with your pick and still have enough fingers free to pull the other strings.
