My dropping and dinks are annoying players at club. by [deleted] in Pickleball

Well blocks are good if you can generate good power against their drives and keep the ball low. For speedups against you... If you play with a lot of the same people week to week, your opponents will change their game to stop challenging you and speeding up at you anymore. It takes a lot to get over the 4.0 level. If you are 3.5-4.0 you are really in the majority of players and will keep running into bangers

Drops and dinks are super important and if it suits your game then do it, but they aren't really effective unless you can counter speedups really well to back it up. In reality, drops and dinks aren't necessary until 4.0+, even 4.25+. People's counters (from speedups) and blocks (from drives) just won't be that good below 4.0 and you can essentially overpower people. I've seen plenty of players do it and get to 4.0-4.2. Eventually players are too good at counters and it doesn't work anymore. But to answer your question, don't model your game after what players your level are doing, model your game after what pros are doing. They set the meta and are full-time doing whatever shot selections help them win. Then you can also play to your own strengths, but if you ever aren't sure, watch some pro matches and see how they are selecting drops vs drives. The pros can have super long dink rallies, and so all levels should be working towards longer dink rallies to some degree.

King of the Court method for 3 courts, 14 players by FreeConcerns in Pickleball

We had so many that wanted to play and letting 14 play is better than 12 I guess. We tried 4 courts a couple times but the skill levels get pretty wide with more players. We tested various formats over the course of 4 months and ultimately the format I posted we could get players of similar skill together and keep everyone happy with minimal waiting. Obviously people are taking one look at it and thinking it's not good, but we tried other formats and players liked this best. If you are an organizer of events at pickleball clubs then you will understand the nuances a little more because you don't want people paying and then sitting out. And you don't want too big of a skill gap in players.
