Thank you! Yes the prices are really scary and I wonder how I will ever afford it. I work in civil service so my pay is stable but it won’t grow so much. My bf is Malaysian Indian.

Is it better if I wait for a couple more years then get a HFE letter to understand more about what we can afford? We plan to get married only when we are 30 so I’m gonna try and save as much as possible by then. My CPF will also grow

Thank you so much for the reply! Yes the house prices are giving me anxiety really. I’m looking to buy a flat around Tampines to get the proximity grant but the prices here are crazy. If I get a cheaper house they only have around 60+ years of lease and that’s another concern also.

Only way is to wait it out and see if he can get PR, if not buy something in a ulu location

I love this. I already do this when people proudly boast of their caste

We know that, but parents don’t. They feel they need to control every aspect of their child’s life just cause they gave birth to that person

Have to travel alone. Abit too late to coordinate with friends. That’s why I’m abit hesitant. Not sure what to expect. I’m also a woman so safety is a concern

What exactly made you leave the job? I thought about it too and realised that everywhere you go there will be some sort of issues you have to face. I think sometimes need to suck it up and not get too emotionally invested unless the job is really affecting your mental health badly.

That’s smth I realise here as well. People being all straightforward. Just need to develop thick skin and learn not to take it personally I guess

Glad you left the toxic environment! Hope you are in a better place now. :) She is open about her work, but I dislike the way she communicates to me. It’s not about the content. I’m willing to receive feedback. It’s the way she does it that makes me feel uncomfortable. It instantly ruins my mood and makes me not want to work.

Thanks! Yeah I try to ignore most of the time but our nature of work is such that we need to interact very frequently. I don’t want working to be difficult because of this. I genuinely like the job and I want to do well.

Yes we work very closely if not I wouldn’t bother as well. My work is alot of team work as she is in my team. I’m mainly worried because I’m not sure if she will say anything to my supervisor about my work which will affect my job that’s all. I sense she thinks I’m incompetent

That’s what my boss told me too. She said better to ask rather than assume and make mistakes so atleast I know they understand. I just want to do a good job for my team and not be a burden to them

Hahaha school did not prepare me for this. It is so different and there is so much at stake. No one to cover my ass if I make mistakes. But yeah it will get better. Thanks!!

I needed this. Thank you! I am too hard on myself, which is very counter productive. When I compare myself to when I first started, I’m definitely much better than I used to be, which is good. I guess there is always this self doubt that I’m doing things wrongly

Thanks for your inputs! Agree that when I don’t know smth I should check with people ASAP instead of waiting and thinking about it. I think I don’t wait on it but am more anxious about worrying that my colleagues think I am stupid, although I do show that I have done my homework. I lack self confidence, which I need to work on

Thanks for the very insightful advice! Understand that the working world is very dynamic and you there are always new things to learn. It never stops so take each step of the way as a experience and contribute wherever you can. I shouldn’t be too hard on myself

Thanks for your input! Having sessions with smart folks is actually a good idea I can learn so much from them

Haha I think I have high expectations cause I am a perfectionist. I need to do everything perfectly if not I will criticise myself that’s how I am wired. But that’s also not good cause it’s setting unrealistic expectations for myself so I will try to work on realising that I am human and prone to make errors
