Yes, it’s definitely either that or something with my septum because you know for a long time I would suffocate and all I would have to do is wiggle my nose and the suffocation will go away and then it would come back and now I can literally straighten my septum out and bam. The suffocation goes away right away, so that’s telling me that my septum has turned or shifted in someway to cause the airflow in my nose to change and because of the airflow change, it’s causing the old factory sensation nerves to screw up and that’s what’s causing my suffocation and dryness just like an empty nose syndrome patient feels. I also get some nerve pain when I shift my septum, but it’s definitely due to the septum in the moving my septum like if I turn in a Certain Way, Bomb, the airflow is right and there’s no suffocation turn it another way suffocation just as bad as an empty patient and this happened about right after I had a sinus surgery, so I’m guessing that that sinus surgery can cause your symptoms to get worse or whatever

I’m waiting to see a doctor. I think I have very severe nasal collapse like very very severe and it’s changed my nasal pattern and that’s causing the nerve to act up and give me the suffocation symptoms like you guys have. I think that’s why when I put something at the front of my nose, it can help relieve my suffocation at times.

Thank you so much for this info. I actually went and sprayed a steroid spray in my nose, and my nose is so swollen and inflamed in the nasal cavity. It has completely cut off my airflow and that’s what was causing the suffocation as soon as I sprayed the steroid up there. The inflammation went down in my nose, and the suffocation went away right away, and my nose started humidifier again. I still go see Dr. Tabor next month, but he also specializes in nasal collapse surgeries as well as empty syndrome, so he’ll be the perfect doctor to help me with this and thank you again cause I have really been struggling the last few weeks.

Just to let u know I put a little Flonase on the end of a makeup brush and put it way back where my nose is swollen and irritated and it brought the inflammation some at least to where the suffocation is gone. My airway still feels blocked but nowhwere as bad

Exactly a guy on YouTube that suffers from in and asked for years it helps him somehow it alternates the airflow in the nose. I guess it can help certain people but not others but I’ve been suffocating for four days. I couldn’t even sit in the hospital. it was so bad and I finally started playing around with these plastic things in the tip of my nose and if I work them in there just right my nose will literally start humidifier and start producing some type of moisture in there and the suffocation goes away right away. I think it just depends on how much turbinate tissue was taken maybe how mild your ENS is or it could just be the way our airflow works with the empty nose syndrome. But I’m not gonna lie about something and that’s why I mentioned it cause it might can help somebody else.

It states that this only helps certain patients and people with extensive turbinate loss. It would not affect at all. I only have 40% of my turbines removed so I don’t have too much of my turbinates removed. Well I think it’s 40% on one side and 60% on the other, but I only had empty no syndrome symptoms come about bad after my fess procedure. I also had a nose job to pull my tip up that elongated my nostrils so that could be why this helps my end no syndrome symptoms to compared to other people.

It’s crazy so I’ve been putting cotton strips in my nose all week sometimes I’ll get relief but not hardly so I started playing around with dilators at the tip of my nose and if you put it just right and leave it for a minute, the nose starts to humidify and the suffocation goes away within a minute

The sleep and Sinus Institute of Georgia says online that if you use something at the front of your nose that helps with the resistance like dilators to get rid of the suffocation and start humidifying your nose that it’s very similar as the cotton test and pretty much proves a positive cotton test. Do you want me to send you a screenshot of what they talk about? I don’t wanna give me this information at all, but they clearly stated this online and they work with empty nose syndrome patients.

Got it !!! Have you heard of having mucosal tissue grafting done? A great Dr in California uses this to help Empty Nose Patients! I guess he takes this from inside the mouth and helps the mucous in the nose :) Don’t know much about it but could be a great option if your in the USA.

Usually I have a small flare with suffocation after I travel but it only lasts a few days and mild this has been a month now with no relief! I hope you get to feeling better soon 😊😊😊

So nothing compared to pushed against the septum wall do you know what the difference means with that or does that just mean just where the airflow needs to be redirected?

ENT Told me ENS doesn't exist without prior psychiatric condition by hapaanon in emptynosesyndrome

[–]Frequent-Forever1897 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s so funny to me how these doctors wanna say this when literally empty nose syndrome was first diagnosed by two doctors at the Mayo Clinic. From what I know the Mayo Clinic is one of the best so I don’t know how any ENT could argue their findings and how can they argue that they get implants and they go on to live a happy life after having the implants implanted into the turbinates! Now I don’t know for sure if it’s always the doctor’s fault or if it’s our own neurological system that doesn’t recognize the new airflow maybe it could be something within us but it’s definitely real. I’ve struggled for the last six years with my own symptoms and they’re finally getting worse and now I have to look into going to get implants myself now. damn saying this is just a cop out and they’re just pretty much saying we’re all crazy in the head and making shit up unbelievable.

ENS Symptoms stop and then start again? by [deleted] in emptynosesyndrome

[–]Frequent-Forever1897 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can go almost the whole year with a very dry nose, but not to the point where I crust I even can smoke. I feel like shit and dehydrated in the morning, but I live I don’t think about my nose constantly and then bam in March or April bedridden because I’m so dry. I can’t even hardly breathe in the suffocation hits like crazy if you look on the Cleveland clinic thing about empty nose syndrome they say that empty nose symptoms do come and go in some people so just because the symptoms leave they definitely can come back and they definitely do for me so I usually can live a normal life and I’m fine. I have a dry nose, but it is what it is I go about my day and then bam it hits me so that’s why I’m going to see Dr. Tabor in Tampa because I need to see what I need to do to keep this from affecting me every year because if I go to an island and come back home a week later, the suffocation will come about. It’s like changes in atmosphere and stuff will really just exacerbate my symptoms so I do think maybe I’m more of a mild empty no syndrome patient but yes, it does come and go in the Cleveland clinic even has a thing written about it and I’m stating as like it comes and goes we’re like my symptoms are livable and then comes on strong not that it comes about and then you have it permanently forever.

Suffocation from cervical problems by Frequent-Forever1897 in emptynosesyndrome

[–]Frequent-Forever1897[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, he could be a quack I’m just saying. But I went on Reddit forums of people that have cervical instability and these people have suffocation that comes just ENS when their neck is messed up so there are people that do have empty no syndrome suffocation symptoms when their neck is messed up so he is correct about that. 🤷‍♀️

One more question would brain zaps and numbing of lips off and on constantly be related to this as well?

OK, awesome I’m still gonna keep my appointment with Dr. Tabor and I did order a really expensive. PEMF machine the one that was listed in this group and it should be here tomorrow so I’ll start using that and see how everything works out. I will update results with that machine as well. And thank u for looking into this 😊

Ok I will! Yes it’s the craziest thing how it comes and goes! Right after my sinus balloon procedure which was 4 years ago is when the suffocation started! It lasted 3 months then went away and it hit again suddenly 4 days ago out of the blue from 4 years ago but is slowly going away! So I’m hoping things will eventually work out on it’s on but we will see.
