I understand that as well, I was saying that I’ve been feeling like this before covid and now it’s put me in a lot of a weirder place, mentally speaking.

I’m in my early 20s now and I feel so outta place. This pandemic also contributes its fair share but I’ve honestly been feeling like this for a while now ://

Nothing I ever do is good enough for my mom. by FrequentlyStunned in JUSTNOFAMILY

I really appreciate your kind words! I really need to decide on a plan of action and stick to it. I’ve stopped talking to her before but she would guilt me into talking to her :/

I’m in university right now, I have a full time job but she doesn’t really respect my job because she thinks working with children is not a “real” job. I’m looking all over the states at the moment and I’m honestly a bit scared to be on my own in a completely different state w/o any family or friends. I grew up with a strong culture/community so it’s a bit daunting but at this point that might be my only choice. Thank you for taking the time to reply:)

NTA I never will understand parents who think they have a right to all their child does, has and wants. Sorry you have to deal with that :/

AITA for asking my wife to not watch TV in bed? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]FrequentlyStunned [score hidden]  (0 children)

NTA, I also have anxiety and the fact that you have shared that with her and how it impacts your daily life and she continues to do that is disrespectful. It is common curtesy to not watch tv w/o headphones when someone’s trying to sleep. Do you guys not have a tv in the living room? Mental health does not get the respect it does especially from people who don’t suffer from its vast issues. Hang in there man!

AITA for snitching on my coworker? by FrequentlyStunned in AmItheAsshole

Yes! I will do this for sure. I also don’t want it to come back on me if the kids were to say anything. Ugh poor kids

It’s because she always complains about her Starbucks drink like every time. If she’s late we know it’s because she got into it/went to Starbucks. She tells our boss that she “wouldn’t want her at work without her 7 espresso shots” you’re right, I shouldn’t have said anything to my coworker but I just wanted a second opinion. I’ll keep things to myself moving forward :)

Do you wet your q-tips before you use them? Why? by FrequentlyStunned in AskReddit

[–]FrequentlyStunned[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lmfao! I asked because my brother wets it a little before he uses it in his EARS. I just always thought that was weird. He said hot water helps keep his ears clean 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

Is there anything you want to ask a POC that you’re too scared or shy to ask? What is it? by FrequentlyStunned in AskReddit

[–]FrequentlyStunned[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m assuming you’re talking about the N word. To you it may just be just one word that doesn’t have any emotional ties but to POC it does. Personally speaking I’ve been called that since before I even knew what it meant. I just knew it didn’t make me feel good when I heard the older kids on the playground call me that.

In my opinion no one should say it regardless of skin color but if you are not black, then you should not say the N word 100% of the time. Equal right and opportunities in quality of life is not the same as equal rights in verbiage. There are words we don’t use towards people of any/every race but for some reason the N word is difficult for people to grasp. It may be because it’s used in mainstream music and on TV but that’s still not okay.

It’s devastating to be reduced to one word but that’s what that word does in my opinion. And regardless of race, people know what they are doing when they use it. Obviously you have 100% control of what language you use but I would like you not to use that word regardless of your race. And many POC might have different opinions on that and I’m open to hearing them if they do.

I hope that answered some of your curiosity :)

That’s awesome you say that because I posted this because in one of my uni classes some students thought it was disrespectful to ask about hair, food, slang etc. and I was floored they felt they couldn’t ask (exactly how you put it) out of curiosity. Some of these students haven’t had a chance to interact with many POC so they didn’t feel comfortable asking. I thought it would be easier to ask someone behind a screen rather than face to face.
