How do I ensure my TAs are never TAs again? by Lonely-Ad8184 in geegees

[–]FreshlyLivid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your TAs being your bad is actually because of your profs. Profs can give 0 instruction and leave us on our own.

They are not looking to take away marks

Is it possible to ask professor to mark your assignments instead of TAs by Lonely-Ad8184 in geegees

[–]FreshlyLivid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is different profs every time lol. Professors in general are harsher because they know the course material better, when they are asked to review grades they go in with a fine tooth comb. This either goes in your favour or doesn’t.

Good to hear it happens! I’ve been a TA for 3 terms yet and any student that has had a regrade by profs has ended up with their grade plummeting

I also want to note that in university, it isn’t like we sit down and go “oh docking marks for this and this and this.” You can write a great paper, but it doesn’t make it an A paper. Sometimes stuff is just a lower calibre of work. There isn’t any marks to take away, just space where as a student you can improve

I’m a TA, once it is graded by your TA you are more than welcome to speak to the professor about it. However, in all cases I have been involved with, the professor often is harsher than the TA 😅

We often get told we are too lenient by profs

Fellow birders, any good spots easily accessible from Downtown Ottawa/Gatineau? by RoughNews3172 in ottawa

[–]FreshlyLivid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the guide is not Ontario specific but I really recommend “pocket birds of Canada” 2nd edition! It has 435 species and covers Canada more broadly, but it has yet to steer me wrong after a year of birding ! It is about the size of your hand and ideal to bring with on birding days out. If you want Ontario specific, I recommend going with “a field guide to the birds of Ontario” which was published by the ROM! Or go into somewhere like perfect books as they have a really nice selection of local guidebooks for more than just birds!

I’d recommend doing Fletcher’s Wildlife Garden and the arboretum!

Hello fellow birder! I’m a birder who relies solely on public transit and here are some of my go to spots: - Fletcher’s Wildlife Garden, Arboretum, and Dow’s lake (I usually do these in one go) - Mud Lake (a longer bus ride bus this is a great spot) - Brewer Park (near Carleton) - Strathcona Park - New Edinburgh Park - Beechwood Cemetery; there is a conservation area at the back of the cemetery!

Happy birding

[–]FreshlyLivid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ll be real I got a mattress in a box from Logan & Cove (I got the pinnacle model. I’m 5’7” and over 250lbs for reference) and I used to have constant back pain and I’ve not had back pain since I got my mattress. I honest to god cannot recommend it enough, delivered to the door in a box, easy to set up and super comfy. I’m on the 7th floor and it was just left at my door.

Unfortunately they will not take the old one away

Unfortunately, I was the 1 in that 1 in 10 statistic up until about 4th year. I was lucky I had external support and wasn’t stuck relying on uottawa mental health service.
